Offer: Podcast Producer:KVPR - Valley Public Radio

Job description:

Podcast Producer

Listing description
KVPR is seeking a talented journalist to serve as the producer for a new everyday news podcast focusing on California's San Joaquin Valley. This digital-first project will bring together existing station newsroom content alongside original interviews and other journalism. The podcast will publish on a Monday - Friday early morning schedule. Content will also be repurposed for broadcast on KVPR in Fresno and Bakersfield. KVPR is the NPR station for California's San Joaquin Valley, and has won numerous honors, including in 2022 the National Edward R. Murrow Award. If you're a dynamic news junkie who loves digging into important local stories, talking with other journalists and producing high quality content, this job could be for you.
About this position:
The Podcast Producer at KVPR will serve as the primary employee responsible for producing a new everyday news podcast. This new podcast will help residents in California's San Joaquin Valley become better informed through insightful interviews with journalists from KVPR and other outlets. The podcast will combine existing everyday news elements from the KVPR newsroom with original in-depth content, including reporter and newsmaker interviews. On occasion the podcast may also feature existing in-depth reporting from the KVPR newsroom.
The podcast will have a regional geographic focus, extending from Merced County in the north to Kern County in the south. Information technology will cover a broad range of topics ranging from government and politics to climate, health, the economy, and education - so flexibility is paramount. The podcast will help the listener develop a better knowledge of their community and region through fact-located reporting and lasting conversations.
The podcast will generally publish five episodes a week, and episodes will generally be less than 15 minutes in length. The project will be produced with support from the Central Valley Journalism Collaborative, and will draw from (but not be limited to) CVJC affiliated non-profit newsrooms. At least one episode per week will feature content from a CVJC partner. Other outlets could include local, regional or national outlets producing work that is significant to our region and audience. Podcast content will also be repurposed for broadcast, either in promotional messages on KVPR, in KVPR newscast spots, or in edited interviews airing on KVPR within existing station programs. While other talent will serve as the primary host, the Podcast Producer may have opportunities behind the microphone, either as a fill-in host or in other ways.
