Posting Details (Default Section)Posting Number:: 20244145S Position Title:: 1st Class Plumber- Cabrini Campus Employment type:: Staff Job location:: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type:: Internal/External candidates Work Schedule:: full-time/12-months Avg Hours Week: Department:: 814-Cabrini Facilities Position Summary:: Under minimum supervision, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots building piping and drainage systems including but not limited to water supply, gas lines, sanitary lines, as well as plumbing fixtures such as showers, toilets, sinks, water heaters, dish machines in order to provide a safe and sanitary environment in all University facilities, including laboratories, athletic facilities, dining facilities, restrooms, and student residences in conformity with applicable standards of the trade and regulatory agencies. Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs, as required, building plumbing equipment and fixtures consistent with manufacturer's guidelines, design parameters, and accepted practices. b. Installs plumbing fixtures including but not limited to piping, connections, insulation, showers, toilets, sinks, urinals, laboratory hoods and sinks, and other equipment and fixtures as required. c. Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing fixtures and systems including metal and PVC components and connections. d. Maintains and makes operating repairs on plumbing equipment and fixtures. e. Operates and keeps in good working order a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, mobile electronic devices, measuring/diagnostic/testing meters, and instruments. f. Reads and interprets complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and piping diagrams. g. Performs brazing, silver and lead soldering, pipefitting as required. h. Performs various carpentry, masonry, painting, and plastering work as required i. Coordinates repairs with other trades affected by plumbing operations. j. Assists in furniture and event set ups and break downs, decorations for special functions, meetings, etc. k. Performs other tasks as assigned within the normal scope of the department's responsibilities and the individual's capabilities. Minimum Appropriate qualifications:: a. HS diploma or equivalent and current documentation indicating prosperous completion of formal training classes or programs and licensure in the plumbing trade or be able to exhibit acceptable life practices in plumbing work. b. Possess backflow avoidance license. c. Is currently classified and working as Plumber 2nd Class and meets and maintains all qualifications for Plumber 2nd Class. d. A minimum of five years of service in the trade at Villanova University (upon the discretion of Facilities Management.) e. Must have the capability to follow both verbal and written directions in English; the capability to interact with students, faculty, administration, and staff in a professional and positive manner, as well as the capability to read and understand OSHA guidelines such as Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment safety data plates, fuel/chemical flash points, etc. f. Must possess and maintain personal hand tools required for the trade. g. Must have the physical capability to climb ladders, to bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 Lbs and the capability to work in enclosed spaces. h. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. i. Must possess current ANSI/OSHA complaint training card to operate aerial lift, bucket truck, forklift, or all. j. Must have the capability to erect and work on scaffolding as per OSHA standards. k. Must not have any disciplinary actions on file within the previous twelve months of applying for this position. l. Must have an excellent safety record.
