Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Production Student Lead: Stage Technician II position for the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) at Oregon State University (OSU).

PRAx Production Student Leads will work many of the back of house positions at PRAx, and will help to train and guide other students, provide production support at on and off-campus events, and will be assigned where needed on any given day. tasks may include stage setup and strike, load-in, load-out, stage management, setting and operating lighting, sound, and/or video systems, organizing and maintaining equipment and spaces.

The Student Lead will be required to lgain and follow safety policies and procedures of PRAx and may be asked to assist in training and supervising other students in those policies and procedures. The position requires a demonstrated high level of discretion and sense of appropriateness, capability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor when working in stressful situations, as well as excellent communication and customer service expertise. PRAx employees are expected to use good judgement, to conduct themselves professionally while at work, to follow the guidelines for proper work attire, and to be punctual and reliable.

This is a pooled posting. That means Information technology will stay open for several months and we will pull candidates from the ?pool? for interviews as openings occur, until the closing date, and possibly beyond.

Reports to: Senior Venue Technical Manager

Schedule: Varied schedule, up to 24 hours per week. Preference given to those who can work 12-24 hours a week. These positions will require evening and weekend work.

Position tasks tasks
Support all aspects of back of house/production, which may include:
   » Hanging and focusing lights
   » Running cables
   » Operating follow spots
   » Operating audio equipment, including audio or monitor mixing
   » Moving equipment and furniture
   » Operation of video equipment
   » Changeovers of the black box theatre configuration
   » Maintaining administrative systems and organization
   » Stage management
   » Loading and unloading equipment from various spaces
   » Setting up the stage
   » Operating lighting equipment
   » Clean up: picking up venue spaces, sweeping and mopping stage, stowing equipment in its proper places, resetting spaces for the next users
   » Reading, interpreting or creating stage plots
   » Taping down cords and/or carpeting
   » Potentially driving for work, picking up and/or dropping off equipment
   » Other tasks as assigned

   »Bending or stooping; bending downward and forward by bending spine at waist or by bending leg/spine.
   »Twisting; tuning the upper body while maintaining a stationary at lower body position.

   »Lifting; raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to- position. capability to lift 40 lbs.
   »Fine hand manipulation; fingering, picking pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand a in a handle.
   »Pushing/Pulling; using upper extremities to press against something with a steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward or to exert force in order to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
   »Frequently Grasping; applying pressure to an object with the finger or palm

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications A minimum of two years' practice supervising, managing, or mentoring others. capability to communicate directions in a clear and concise manner. capability to communicate professionally with internal and external clients, other staff and guests. Relicapability and punctuality is a must. Production leads should arrive ready to work in approved dress code. Prior practice working with live performance, such as sound, lighting, theater, stagehand, live performance. capability to be trained on current AV technologies and in safety procedures, to continually follow safety procedures as trained; and to train and supervise other students in learned procedures.
