Position InformationGeneral InformationPosition Number 003046 Working Title Lecturer and University manager Classification Title 12-Mo Non-Tenure Track Faculty College College of Education (Col) Department Office of School & Community Partnerships Position Designation Faculty Employment Type Permanent - Full-time Months per year 11 Primary Purpose of Department The primary goal of the University manager (US) is to coordinate the work of student teachers, faculty, and clinical educators, eliminating the silos traditionally established in university-located teacher preparation programs. The primary responsibility is to communicate and coordinate between the preservice teacher (PST) and the clinical educator (CE) and/or school administration. Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals. Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching (including lab, studio, or production management) may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work. Essential tasks and Responsibilities Working as appropriate with the College's adjunct Dean of School and Community Partnerships, other university managers, and individual faculty members as well as with teachers, staff, and administrators in P-12 schools and related agencies, the university manager has the following Job responsibilities: » Work closely with the CE, principal/administrator, and adjunct Dean of the Office of School and Community Partnerships to support PSTs & CEs. » Work with 18-20 PSTs each semester in the student teaching internship. » Work with 20 - 30 PSTs each semester in the yearlong internship semester by communicating expectations and conducting observations as needed. » Hold an orientation for all CEs and PSTs in the student teaching semester. » Conduct performance assessments (i.e., CPAST) of all student teachers in their schools. » Meet with the CEs after the first six weeks to gather strengths and needs of the candidates. » Meet with the PSTs through 8 - 10 seminar sessions during the student teaching semester. » Teach the student teaching seminar each semester using summarized data to tailor the content of the seminar to address the fluctuating needs of candidates. » Analyze PST performance data and provide action steps and feedback to the PST and CE. » Utilize technology to collect/analyze data and to support PSTs. » Work collaboratively with the Director of Assessment on collecting and submitting data. » Provide edTPA support to all student teachers in their assigned schools. (Intensive workshops for needed re-takes will occur outside this function.) » Work with CEs to provide the final grade for candidates. » Work with school administration and the adjunct Dean of OSCP to identify clinical educators for use in future semesters. » Attend professional development to advance the US position and the teaching profession. » Attend PD as directed by the adjunct Dean. » May be assigned one additional course per year to teach in the appointed department, depending on candidate load. » Participate in university, college, and unit service opportunities (committee assignments, school service, etc). » May be assigned other special tasks, given case load, needs of the program, and skills of the US. These tasks will be determined by the adjunct Dean for School and Community Partnerships. Minimum practice/Education UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Preferred Education, Skills and practice The position is a 11-month, nontenure-eligible position which begins on July 1 of a new fiscal year. The candidate appointed to this position must have earned a Master's degree or doctoral degree in education with primary emphasis in special education and elementary education, must have completed at least three years of prosperous classroom teaching, and must hold licensure in the areas in which supervision will occur. Necessary Licenses/Certifications North Carolina K-6 and/or Special Education license.
