Minimum Qualifications» Associates degree» One to three years related work practice in event planning and/or activity coordination; » Demonstrate knowledge of and a commitment to: the community college mission and purpose; teaching and learning; high academic standards; and, student success » Knowledge and practice using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications (with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint presentation) » capability to work effectively with a diverse student population » Demonstrate organizational expertise with attention to detail » capability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed » Demonstrate excellent oral and written interpersonal expertise to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and the general public » Establishing and maintain effective working relationship with students, employees, and the greater community » Facilitate and model quality customer service » capability to efficiently multi-task and conduct/complete independent work assignments
Preferred Qualifications» Bachelor's degree» 4 or more years of related work practice in event planning and/or activity coordination » 2 or more years of employment in a higher education setting
Position DescriptionThe Student Activities & Events Coordinator develops, directs, and coordinates the College's student and campus-wide activities and events. The Student Activities & Events Coordinator facilitates significant involvement and community engagement all over the campus to help student, staff, and faculty grow holistically and develop as leaders.Essential tasks: » Develop, plan, direct, and coordinate student life activities and scheduled events » Develop, plan, direct, and coordinate campus wide events like Opening Day, Convocation Day, Holiday Events, Retirement, Award Ceremonies, and Graduation celebrations. » Promote and support the creation of new clubs and maintain existing clubs and organizations » Coordinate, prepare, and disseminate print and digital publications related to student clubs, student activities, and services to students, staff, and the community » Maintain and regularly publish an up-to-date calendar of student life activities and events » Secure campus facilities for student activities, events, and programs as needed » Determine event staffing needs and provide guidance to those involved in planning and executing the event » Coordinate and manage third party vendors contracted for student events » supervise student activities and/or event including setup, duration of activities, and clean-up » Supervise and evaluate student activity events and confer frequently with college administrators and members of the student advisory committee » Maintain accurate records for student activities and events (including event proposals, budgets, contacts, contracts, media/publicity, and event survey results) » Serve as Student Government Association advisor, including elections and participating in monthly SGA and student body meetings instilling the use of Roberts Rules of order, and coordinating the monthly reporting of meet minutes to the Board of Trustees » Maintain SGA budget, obtain quotes, complete requisitions, and coordinate payment for services of student related activities » Coordinate travel arrangements for student related travel in conformity with College policies and procedures » Communicate with current and potential students about events and student life opportunities » Actively recruit and promote the College » Promote and support the college's Food Pantry service » Maintain confidential information exposed in the course of day-to-day activities in regarding students, managers, or other employees » Performs all other tasks, as assigned
