Job Summary The Department of Public Safety is seeking a Compliance agent. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, Public Safety professional position.

As a member of the Clery Act Compliance Team within the Department of Public Safety, the Compliance agent provides analytical, evaluative, and administrative services to support university compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Examples of responsibilities include reviewing incident reports for the purpose of classifying and compiling crime statistics, creating compliant and visually engaging reports/media, developing applicable policies and procedures, gathering crime data from local law enforcement, and providing guidance to constituents about compliance issues.

With the goal of supporting a university philosophy that values compliance, integrity, accountcapability and inclusivity, the compliance agent assists multiple university departments, including but not limited to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access, the Office of the General Counsel, the Department of Public Safety, and University Housing and Dining Services in the development of policies, procedures, and programs that are centrally compliant with the Clery Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act.

Key Responsibilities 50% CLERY ACT CONSULTATION AND ADMINISTRATION
Develop institutional policy, procedures and tools to ensure OSU compliance with the Clery Act.

Research current and emerging trends/changes and best practices in regard to institutional implementation of federal Clery Act regulations to comply fully with the law and its regulations.

Work collaboratively with Campus Security Authorities and internal departments as liaison between FERPA, Title VII, Title IX, Higher Education Opportunity Act, Violence Against Women Act and Clery Act for the reporting and release of information to gather crime reporting statistical data for review and classification. Cross-check data from multiple reporting entities removing redundancies.

Ensure that OSU's disclosures to students, employees, families and the public are timely and easily understandable.

Perform internal audits to ensure Clery Act compliance; participate in and respond to external Clery Act audits and resulting actions.

Monitor university publications (The Barometer, OSU Today, etc.) to stay informed about Clery related activities such as training events, geographic updates, and new program development.

Maintain Clery Compliance website.

Coordinate the development and review of campus maps confirming accuracy and Clery Act geographical designations.

Prepare the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report which complies with federal regulations around:
   » Crime statistics
   » Law enforcement authority
   » University policies around emergency response and notification, crime avoidance and consciousness, assistance for victims, and disciplinary process
   » Fire statistics and suppression system
20% CRIME ANALYSIS
   » Gather, research, analyze, and/or disseminate information on a variety of crime related and public safety topics by reading police reports, CAD calls, intelligence products or other various sources of information
   » Disseminate information using reports, bulletins, graphs, charts, tables, reports, and other methods to public safety personnel and other university employees
   » Identify patterns and trends in criminal activity and public safety information

15% RECORDS MANAGEMENT
   » Manage all supporting records, digital and hard copy, used in compiling Clery and crime analysis documentation
   » Ensure established archiving procedures are updated to reflect changing Clery requirements
   » Maintaining updated list of local law enforcement offices with contact information
   » Keep a complete set of campus law enforcement standard operation procedures
   » Maintain a comprehensive list of all buildings or land owned or controlled by the university
   » Keep track of all Campus Security Authorities

10% TRAINING FACILITATION AND SUPPORT
Design, develop, and deliver training materials for Campus Security Authorities across campus
Present crime data and results of analysis to Department of Public Safety personnel as well as other university stakeholders

5% OTHER tasks AS ASSIGNED
Review bargaining proposal for consistency with Clery Act regulations, standards, and procedures.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment for staff.

What You Will Need Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management or related field
OR
four years' practice working in the criminal justice system or governmental compliance (may substitute for bachelor's degree);

practice in interpreting policies, laws, regulations, and standards, as well as training stakeholders on compliance with these requirements;

Demonstrated capability to analyze and interpret data from several sources;

Excellent organizational and oral/written communication expertise;

Work practice providing lead administrative work in a project, program, or operation with responsibility for implementation; evaluation, research, and analysis of programs or processes;

practice designing and presenting material to a varied audience;

Knowledge of and capability to use software applications to extract, compile, and display data from databases and files;

Demonstrated capability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. The Criminal History Check will include fingerprinting and prosperous completion of the Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) online training.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule This position is typically Monday - Friday with typical business hours. However, this position may be asked to work other than typical hours. Travel for training may be required.
