Steel River Playhouse

Steel River in Pottstown, PA seeks a part-time Artistic Producer to work with the Executive Director, Staff, and Board to lead the company into its next exciting phase.
About Steel River Playhouse
Steel River Playhouse is a non-profit theatre and education organization dedicated to sharing stories that reflect our collective humanity. Steel River is located in Pottstown, PA in a 2.4 million dollar performing arts center with a 200-seat mainstage space and a 100-seat blackbox space. The Playhouse has become an economic driver for downtown Pottstown and, since its founding, Steel River Playhouse has staged over 150 productions, entertained over 200,000 audience members, and educated 20,000 students. Our 2023-2024 season has 7 mainstage shows and additional seasonal educational programming.
As Steel River Playhouse concludes its 23rd year, we are embracing a vision Where Everybody Plays a function. We are opening the doors to new and exciting artists, eliminating obstacles for people to attend though diverse ticketing strategies, expanding our volunteer opportunities, and inviting small businesses, charities, and community organizations into our building and programming.
The Artistic Producer will report directly to the Executive Director and lead in Artistic and Production Management areas as well as support the administrative staff. The staff Technical Director and Costume Shop Manager will report to the Producer.
Areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
60% - Production Management
   » Manage the production process.
   » Create and maintain production budgets and calendars.
   » Work with stage managers, directors, designers, and contractors to ensure top quality productions that are within the productions' budgets.
   » Supervise and work in tandem with the Technical Director, Costume Shop Manager, and production designers to maintain production inventory and coordinate repairs and maintenance as needed.
   » supervise load in and strike in each of our theater spaces - ensuring safety, efficiency, and maintaining the quality of the design execution.
40% - Producing and Artistic Support
   » Contract, hire, and supervise directors, cast, designers, and crew.
   » supervise and schedule audition processes and coordinate space rentals in tandem with the Facilities Manager and Technical Director.
   » Partner collaboratively and supportively with the Education Director to program and staff youth production programming.
   » Coordinate travel and housing for visiting artists.
   » Conduct dramaturgical research as needed for upcoming seasons or productions.
   » Assist with season planning and artist selection.
   » Assist with marketing and artistic framing as needed.
Ideal Qualifications include:
   » 1-3 years in arts production management and/or producing with previous producing or production management practice preferred.
   » Bachelor's or Master's Degree in theater preferred.
   » Strong organizational expertise.
   » Solid financial literacy and budgeting background.
   » capability to manage personnel and large teams.
   » Strong writing and verbal expertise.
   » Strong communication expertise in diverse, collaborative environments.
   » practice and expertise in integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility into day-to-day work.
   » capability to work in an environment that prioritizes flexibility, innovation, and efficiency and seeks and welcomes fresh talent and perspectives from the broader theater community.
   » capability to collaborate to produce ambitious and inclusive theatrical work.
Location and Schedule
In-person work hours required at 215 E High Street Pottstown, PA with flexible remote hours to be determined. Additional weekend and evening in-person hours may be required depending upon production schedules. Local residency in Montgomery County or the Greater Philadelphia area, or a availability to move, is required.
income Range
