Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 36 hours per week) Education Program adjunct 1 position for the Division of Extension of Engagement's Family & Community Health Program at Oregon State University (OSU). This position be located in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

This Education Program adjunct 1 (EPA1) position serves Klamath County. This position is with the Extension Family and Community Health program (affiliated with OSU's College of Health) and located at the OSU Extension Klamath County office in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Mission
Extension programs in the College of Health align toward a common vision of lifelong health and well-being for individuals, families, and communities. The central purpose of this position is to extend the expertise and research of OSU to the communities of Oregon in a manner that is responsive to local needs and respectful of local norms and culture. The incumbent joins a network of campus-and community-located Extension faculty and staff who share this responsibility for community engagement.

Purpose of the position
The EPA is part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed) Program, a nutrition education program in Extension Family and Community Health. Extension educators provide evidence-located interventions through SNAP-Ed, a nutrition education program targeting SNAP eligible audiences. Programs are designed to promote healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle. All programming is done in collaboration with community partners, such as schools, food banks and pantries, and government and non-profit agencies. Funding is provided in part by USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through a contract with Oregon Department of Human Services.

In addition, the EPA will work in partnership with 4-H and Farm to School staff on the Farm to School project funded by a grant from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE). OSU Extension is a recognized leader in this work, providing nutrition education all over the state, encouraging healthy eating, and supporting local food producers. Programming is also done in partnership with the Klamath City and County School Districts.

The EPA will work under the supervision of the Extension Klamath County FCH/SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member. Programs are implemented in a manner that measures impact, fosters program improvement and strengthens community connections. This position requires driving/travel to various sites within Klamath County.

Key Responsibilities The Education Program adjunct 1 embeds the commitment of the university to inclusive excellence in all interactions and tasks performed and contribute to a safe, welcoming and respectful learning and workplace environment.

60% Program Implementation
Nutrition Education Delivery:
Delivers pre-approved non-credit curriculum/programs, for managing food resources, making/preparing healthy food choices, encouraging physical activity, plant science/gardening and handling food safely to adults, youth, and families in a variety of community settings, including schools. This will require driving/travel to various county sites to deliver programming, and the capability to transport educational materials and supplies. Uses OSU Extension Service/SNAP-Ed approved curricula, materials, and information.

Delivers Farm to School programming in partnership with 4-H and Farm to School staff working with the Klamath City and County School Districts.

Prepares and delivers lessons from preapproved curriculum and programs to all populations in an inclusive and culturally responsible manner.

Promotes respectful cultural consciousness regarding the health-related issues of Native America/Alaska Native Indigenous Peoples in Oregon to program partners and stakeholders in order to ensure outreach to the targeted community.

Conducts educational presentations at fairs and community events.

Provides classroom management practices as necessary.

Delivers programming discussed above in a hybrid (virtual/in person) format.

Policy, System, Environmental Change:
Works with SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member and community partners to identify areas for policy, system, and environmental change and implement OSU/SNAP-Ed preapproved processes that will influence change within the community.

Works as part of a team to conduct nutrition and physical activity needs assessments within the community.

Works as part of a team to implement strategies/interventions in the school/community environment that support and encourage healthy eating habits and physically active lifestyles, such as implementing the Food Hero campaign strategies.

Participates actively in school and/or community committees/coalitions to encourage healthy eating habits and physically active lifestyles, as directed by SNAP-Ed Managing Faculty Member.

Uses technology as a tool to increase the reach and impact of program delivery.

Collaborates with Managing Faculty Member about community cultural norms and best ways to reach the target audiences using technology to develop marketing strategies and utilize appropriate print and digital tools to reach intended audience segments.

Provides trainings to partners/community with approved non-credit curriculums.

20% Nutrition Education - Planning, Preparing, and Evaluating
Works with faculty/staff on marketing and recruitment for group/class set up and nutrition topics/lessons with site contact. Assists in preparation and ordering of instructional supplies needed for classes. Assists in assembling materials needed for classes and other nutrition education activities. Purchases appropriate materials for educational activities, including ingredients for food preparation and tasting.

Participates in evaluation of program effectiveness.

Utilizes state SNAP-Ed approved materials and approaches to implement nutrition education interventions for youth, adults and/or families, following federal and state SNAP-Ed and OSU Extension Service guidelines.

Engages actively with faculty, staff and volunteers in the delivery of SNAP-Ed interventions/strategies to SNAP-Ed eligible youth, adults and families.

Contributes positively to team projects in SNAP-Ed and the OSU Extension Service in Klamath County.

Engages community partners and community members in a culturally responsive manner.

Contributes to equity, inclusion, and diversity as part of non-credit educational delivery, advising, and service. Outputs and impacts of efforts to promote equity, inclusion, and diversity should be included in quarterly and annual reports for the unit.

10% Nutrition Education Program Records
Record-keeping - Maintains class, meeting, and assessment records, attendance records, evaluation data, paperwork; verifies for accuracy; submits all required records upon completion of classes, meetings, and assessments for state and federal reporting; submits quarterly success stories -?Stories from the Field?; reports activities and their impacts into the Extension's reporting system, coordinating with their managing faculty member; processes reimbursements for personal vehicle mileage for work travel and supplies purchased; provides other data/statistical information/records as requested.

10% Meetings & Trainingsand Other tasks
Attends scheduled SNAP-Ed meetings and trainings.

Participates in significant statewide/regional conferences, workshops, meetings and trainings. Attends County Extension staff meetings and participates in regional/state OSU Extension Service activities, as directed.

Attends training opportunities to build basic expertise and consistent expertise to use digital communications, marketing and engagement technologies significant to position tasks.

Follows OSU and division brand guidelines, digital publishing standards and digital contact management data integrity practices for programmatic communications, marketing and engagement.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

What We Require
High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of significant practice (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults
OR Associate Degree and one year of work practice (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions
AND
Demonstrated oral and written communication expertise.
Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Access to a vehicle is necessary as tasks will require driving/travel to various sites in Klamath County to deliver non-credit programs and transporting curriculum materials.
