Organizational Unit Overview The primary purpose of this position is to provide evaluation and intervention services to infants and toddlers referred to the Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA). The ECU CDSA is a part of the ECU Brody School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and contractually serves as the primary portal of entry for the N.C. Infant Toddler Program within multiple counties in the eastern region of the state. Currently, We are pursuing an Early Intervention Specialist to cover a portion of the counties within our catchment area. Geographic assignments are subject to modification dependent upon the needs of the program.

Job tasks The primary purpose of this position is to provide evaluation and intervention services to infants and toddlers referred to the Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA). The ECU CDSA is a part of the ECU Brody School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and contractually serves as the primary portal of entry for the N.C. Infant Toddler Program within multiple counties in the eastern region of the state. Currently, We are pursuing an Early Intervention Specialist to cover a portion of the counties within our catchment area. Geographic assignments are subject to modification dependent upon the needs of the program. Early Intervention Specialists are responsible for providing eligibility evaluations using standardized testing methods; conducting developmental assessments for the purposes of program planning; preparing reports of results with suggested strategies which respond to the goals and priorities of the family; consultation/teaching within area of skills with families, providers, and service coordinators relative to the results and activities agreed upon on the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP); and direct therapeutic interventions with children and caregivers within specialty areas when a CDSA network provider is unable to meet the needs as outlined on the IFSP. The Specialist may be assigned the responsibility of Service Coordination for select families as needed. This position may provide supervision and consultation to less practiced Specialists and Service Coordinators, service providers within the community, and/or Students and Volunteers.

The position is primarily community-located with a typical Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work schedule. Specific geographic assignment and office location will be determined located on current needs of the program.

Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's or Master's degree in the therapeutic specialty area to which assigned. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure in speech pathology, audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other fields. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation None.

Preferred practice, Skills, Training/Education practice with the Birth to Three population, family-directed service provision, home and community-located programming, developmental assessments, and evaluations, as well as therapeutic interventions with young children with disabilities and their families in area of specialty. Good verbal and written communication skills are important. Master's degree preferred.

License or Certification required by the Department Valid Driver's License.
