JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Senior Accountant– Heitz Cellar
Job location: Hybrid>St. Helena, CA (3 days on site)
Travel: Light travel between locations in Napa Valley
Job employment Type: Full-time

General Position Overview:
This position will own the bulk wine and cased goods costing functions for all Estates along with other accounting tasks assigned by the Controller. This position will be an integral part of the operations and communication with production teams and management, providing timely reporting on bulk wine and cased goods COGS. With the help of the Staff Accountant, this position will also be responsible for all bulk wine and cased goods quantity reporting. The Estates utilize Vintrace for bulk wine activity and costing and Microsoft Business Central for all financial accounting and reporting. This position will also be encouraged to present opportunities to gain efficiency and reduce costs by implementing better processes or utilizing existing systems better or implementing new systems.

Job responsibilities:

•  Own and maintain bulk wine costing for all Estates utilizing Vintrace bulk wine software
•  Own cased goods costing for all Estates
•  Create standardized costing templates for bulk and cased goods costing
•  Create SOPs for tasks as necessary
•  With assistance from the Staff Accountant, maintain packaging component unit costs master tables for FP&A team
•  Maintain bulk wine roll forwards for all estates and adhere to agreed-upon reporting timeline
•  Ensure costing methodology mirrors activities happening in production
•  Own the inventory section of the financial statements and perform reconciliations of all inventory accounts with the frequency set by the Controller
•  Coordinate/assist with Compliance Manager on all SKU creation matters
•  Reconcile cased goods quantities and report to Estate Directors and Controller
•  Work with FP&A Director to report on actual quantities of bulk and cased goods compared to forecasted quantities
•  Maintain master tables relating to inventory (dry goods costing, wholesale packaging, barrel costs per label, bottling dates, etc.)
•  Manage master COGS table in Long Range Plan (LRP)
•  Partner with outside accountants and service providers as necessary
•  Ad-hoc analysis as necessary to support the Estates
•  Review of other various balance sheet reconciliations
•  Key team member in the continued implementation of new technologies, including but not limited to:
* ERP: Microsoft Business Central
*POS/e-commerce system: Commerce7
*Forecasting: Adaptive

Appropriate qualifications:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, CPA is a plus but not required
•  3+ years of accounting work practice
•  practice with cost accounting preferred but not required
•  practice in the wine industry or other CPG industry is preferred
•  practice with Vintrace or other winemaking software preferred
•  Solid knowledge of GAAP and how to balance that with managerial accounting, which is inevitably more important to executive and owner decision-making
•  Advance expertise in Excel and proficient with other Microsoft office programs is a plus
•  practice with costing, preferably in a CPG environment
•  Strong communication expertise: written and oral. capability to communicate with employees at all levels
•  Excellent command of written and spoken English

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Employee must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Driver’s License and be insurable by company standards.
