Posting DetailsPosition InformationPosting Number: 20121591Staff Working Title: adjunct Baseball Coach Pay Rate: Employment Job Category: Administrative/Professional Regular/Temporary: Regular If temporary, list duration: Type of Appointment: Fiscal Contract Period: 12 month Position Summary Information Position Summary: The adjunct Baseball Coach reports to the Head Baseball Coach and is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in carrying out all activities necessary to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of the NCAA, ASUN Conference, and the University. Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN. Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: » Coordinate activities through the Head Baseball Coach. » Assist Head Coach in recruiting, instructing and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for the baseball team. » Provide pitching instruction to baseball student-athletes on the fundamentals, details and strategies of baseball as assigned by the Head Coach. » Adhere to all policies and regulations of the Director of Athletics, University, ASUN and NCAA. » Assist with the marketing and promotion of baseball. » Counsel student athletes in sport participation, personal development and academics. » Work with the Admissions Office to enroll student-athletes. » Assist Admissions Office in recruiting on a limited basis. » Assist in monitoring student-athlete's academic progress. » Responsible for maintenance of playing and practice baseball fields. » In consultation with University Advancement and the Athletic Director, assist in fundraising in both baseball and with major fund raisers in the Athletic Department. » Assist Head Coach in developing game strategies. » Perform other job-related tasks as assigned. expertise, expertise, and Abilities: » capability to effectively teach fundamentals, position details and strategies of baseball during preparation and practice sessions. » capability to motivate teams to become prosperous. » capability to travel and recruit student athletes. » capability to lgain and comply with all policies and regulations of the University, ASUN and NCAA. » capability to efficiently operate a personal computer and connected software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and Banner. » capability to communicate effectively and appropriately. » capability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. » capability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public. » capability to detect and correct grammatical and spelling errors in written correspondence. » capability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs. » capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. » capability to effectively supervise personnel and complete all connected personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner. » capability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation. » capability to achieve certification to drive student-athletes to team athletic events. » capability to scout opponents. Physical Requirements: » Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: » Minimum of a Bachelor's degree. » Demonstrated prosperous practice in playing and/or coaching at the collegiate, university, or professional level. » A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically. » Valid driver license. » A background check will be required for the prosperous applicant. » An official transcript and names, addresses and phone numbers of three (3) references will be required for the prosperous applicant.
