The College of Liberal Arts,
Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts and School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts, invites applications for a combined position as Senior Manager of Curriculum, Engagement & adjunct Interpretation and adjunct Professor of Teaching in Creative Practices and Integrations. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, combined professional faculty and fixed term academic faculty position.

Appointment at the adjunct Professor of Teaching rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the prosperous candidate.

this function has oversight for engagement with arts and humanities activities that originate in the arts and humanities program (which includes PRAx, the Center for the Humanities, and the being-built Center for Material Cultures Research in Arts, Archaeology, and Indigenous Study). Sample engagement activities include workshops, masterclasses, and other forms of engagement delivered by visiting artists or scholars. Engagement is expected to range far and wide, and the position-holder works to plan creative opportunities as well as more traditional ones; examples of creative opportunities that PRAx has planned in the past include culturally educational cooking classes by visiting West African artists. In addition to one-offs, the function also leads curriculum-located integrations, such as the inclusion of PRAx or Center for the Humanities content in courses at OSU, from the honors college (an established pipeline) to new core curriculum (a pipeline that needs to be built). The final responsibility of this function involves working with curatorial faculty, scholars, and others to create significant text for interpretive materials related to art exhibitions, installations, and performing arts events. The position is not responsible for the design of those materials, but has general oversight over interpretative materials, which could range from the text on postcards created for installations to more broad collaboration in relationship to didactic/interpretive elements of gallery exhibitions, including wall texts.

Serve as the point person for engaging students and faculty in the study and practice of broadly-define creativity. Develop and teach courses that examine diverse creative practices and results. Support initiatives that gather and connect practitioners, including the Reser Creative Scholars. Lead in the creation of new academic programs that integrate the creative arts with other disciplines and capitalize on arts and humanities integrations via PRAx.

   » Seek, develop, and support course and curriculum integrations around the University with visiting performers, artists, exhibitions, and artists and humanities scholars in residence
   » Collaborate with academic faculty to maximize the value of public arts and humanities events (performances, lectures, readings, and the like) within the curriculum of Oregon State University
   » Collaborate with advisors and program leaders to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the Oregon State University curriculum across the institution, including the core educational program, for the specific purpose of suggesting and implementing cross-curricular connections
   » Maintain an active knowledge of experiential learning opportunities, including internships, for-credit, and no-credit opportunities that may support activities in the arts and humanities program
