The EHS office provides guidance at all levels of the University to ensure compliance, maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment. Primary Purpose of Position The primary purpose of this position is to research, develop, implement, analyze and continuously improve the Environmental Health and Safety program. Summary of Position Responsibilities Lead and manage all fire and life safety compliance programs to include, but not limited to AEDs, building safety, fire protection, emergency response, event safety, building evacuation plans, fire drills, hot work permits, contractor safety, powered industrial trucks, aerial lifts, fall protection and pressure vessels. Determine internal goals while collaborating with executive leadership abilities to promote regulatory compliance within their respective units. Manage EHS professionals and establish detailed operational plans to accomplish goals. Minimum Education/practice » Bachelor's degree and two years of related practice; or » Master's degree in a physical science, biological science, environmental science/engineering, occupational safety, industrial technology or related discipline; or » An equivalent combination of training and practice. » All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred Education, expertise, expertise and practice » A master's degree in business administration, public administration, management, physical science, biological science, environmental science/engineering, occupational safety, industrial technology, or related discipline. » significant professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, ARM, CFI, CFPE, etc.). » Seven or more years of demonstrated health and safety program development, leadership abilities, and communication expertise equal to the requirements of the position. » practice with establishing a fire and life safety management system in a higher education or public setting. » practice using technology to automate processes and manage projects. » Demonstrated leadership abilities, communication, and team building expertise. » Demonstrated capability to investigate complex incidents, determine root causes and gain University administrators support to implement remedial actions.
