Job Summary The Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station invites applications for a part-time (0.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Faculty Research adjunct position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.

This position is responsible for executing projects performed within the Integrated and Marine Fisheries Lab at OSU and will report directly to Dr. Cheryl Barnes. The incumbent will perform a variety of tasks to help scientists at OSU and NOAA conduct a climate vulnercapability assessment (CVA) in the Gulf of Alaska. This will involve working closely with fishery stakeholders and combining a variety of methods (quantitative and qualitative) to identify risks to fished stocks in the face of climate change. This faculty research adjunct (FRA) will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data, synthesizing and presenting results to various groups, and publishing one or more peer-reviewed journal articles. The FRA is also expected to manage at least 1-2 undergraduate students.

There may also be opportunities to develop original research questions designed to inform marine resource management in the North Pacific Ocean. The incumbent may assist with writing grant proposals to support additional research.

This position is located at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR.

As a member of the Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station (COMES), the incumbent will be expected to work closely with state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, and coastal communities in support of the COMES mission ?to understand, utilize, and sustain marine resources and coastal ecosystems in order to benefit the citizens of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, the Nation, and the World.?

Key Responsibilities 60% Scientific Research: Design and carry out research projects, as assigned. Conduct comprehensive scientific literature reviews. Collect, analyze, and interpret data. Develop and compile a detailed description of methods used. Contribute to the development of manuscripts that synthesizes project results in peer-reviewed journals and/or technical memoranda.

30% Outreach and Engagement: Foster relationships with fishery stakeholders, coordinate meetings for various groups, provide informed and timely responses to project-related inquiries, and maintain detailed participant records.

10% Supervision: Help recruit, train, and supervise 1-2 undergraduate research adjuncts. Maintain and enforce safety protocols. Plan and assign work for independent projects.

What You Will Need Master's degree in fisheries, marine biology/ecology, statistics, environmental science, or related field (or Bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of significant practice).

Proficiency with technical writing (e.g., agency reports, peer-reviewed journal articles).
