Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Lead Event Specialist position for OSUPC at Oregon State University (OSU).

OSUPC produces zero/low-cost, social events and activities that build community and create a sense of belonging among OSU students. OSUPC Lead Event Specialists provide leadership abilities to the OSUPC team for the planning and production of high quality events and programs for students of OSU. They work closely with OSUPC professional staff, OSUPC Event adjuncts, and the OSUPC Digital Communication Specialist in developing events that create community, make memories and enhance the college practice. For the 2023-24 school year, We are pursuing students who will think critically, creatively, and openly in a team-located environment.

ELA serves as the hub for student organizations, media, and creative expression. ELA's mission is to provide resources, advising and a platform that helps students of all identities build community, create media, and launch activities that reflect their passions, cultures and lived practices. ELA comprises Clubs & Orgs, Orange Media Network (OMN), and the OSU Program Council (OSUPC). ELA is a department of the Student practices and Engagement organization within the Division of Student Affairs.

Position tasks Event Planning leadership abilities (70%)
   » Lead in the execution of OSUPC events
   » Develop detailed event plans for each assigned event, inclusive of planning timeline, event timeline and budgeting
   » Work with OMN Creative team to develop, review and approve promotional plans for OSUPC activities
   » Reserve Campus space for OSUPC activities
   » Attend event planning meetings
   » Track and monitor assigned event budgets
   » Lead in the assessment, evaluation, and wrap-up of OSUPC events, including event reports and
   » recommendations for the future
   » Work with OSU professional staff, community members, outside vendors as needed for events
   » Facilitate committee meetings with appropriate OSUPC staff and campus partners
   » Support Orange Media Network events, serving as or assigning other OSUPC staff to serve as the primary event planner and liaison for launch parties and other assigned events.

Administrative Responsibilities (15%)
   » With manager, lead in setting and accomplishing goals for OSUPC
   » Lead OSUPC team in the office by answering questions, assisting in triaging the OSUPC email, assigning tasks and supporting other OSUPC functions
   » Maintain regular office hours to assist in the facilitation of day-to-day tasks and to facilitate general office tasks
   » Attend OSUPC staff meetings and engage in continuing training, professional development, and community building
   » Assist OSUPC professional staff with planning and leading weekly staff meetings, orientation, training & development of OSUPC staff
   » Support the development & maintenance of educational tools, trainings and tutorials
   » Assist in the attendance and/or ticketing process for events
   » Support OSUPC professional staff in purchasing

Other Position Responsibilities (15%)
   » May be asked to serve on a committee or work group within SOA, ELA, or SEE
   » Work to learn, enhance, and promote diversity and social justice
   » Represent OSUPC to OSU and Corvallis community
   » Uphold the values of SOA, ELA, and SEE
   » Participate in signature SEE or ELA-wide events and programming each term
   » Staff other ELA events as needed, including OMN Launch Parties, RSO signature events and GCK support
   » Engage in continuing professional development and community building

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications Required Appropriate qualifications:
   » Two (2) or more academic terms on staff with OSUPC
   » expertise of or practice with event/program planning or project management
   » Prior involvement practice in leadership abilities activities, student organizations, event planning and/or outreach
   » activities
   » capability to organize work, manage time, and follow through on tasks in a self-directed environment
   » Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making expertise
   » practice working collaboratively as a part of a team
   » Demonstrated practice working with a variety of organizations and people from diverse cultures, communication styles, histories, and team structures
   » Must be an enrolled for at least 6 academic credits (undergraduates) or 3 academic credits (graduates) at Oregon State University or an affiliated institution (like Linn-Benton Community College) all over employment
   » Must be currently enrolled OSU student, in good standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment, maintaining a cumulative GPA at minimum or above of 2.0 undergrads, 3.0 graduate students
Preferred (Special) Qualifications Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
   » Strong communication expertise, interpersonal and written
   » Previous practice in organizing committee work and leading a committee
   » practice engaging traditionally underrepresented social identities (i.e. Race, Gender, Gender Identity, or capability)
   » Demonstrated expertise of PC software, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint),
   » Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere), and Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms)
Working Conditions / Work Schedule Terms:
   » Term of employment is June 19, 2024 (or as hired) through June 13, 2025; opportunities to work before this date may be available.
   » Expected to work an average of 15-20 hours per week
   » Expected to work frequent evening and weekend hours, as required, to support programming
   » Required to attend weekly staff meetings, managery meetings, and committee or work group meetings

Pay rate:
   » $16.40/hour starting July 16, 2023
