Summary:
New Hampshire Public Radio is seeking a Controller to be a key member of the finance team responsible for superviseing the accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls of the station. this function ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, compliance with significant regulations, and supports strategic financial planning and analysis. This is a full-time, hybrid eligible function located in Concord NH, reporting to the Chief Financial agent (CFO).
New Hampshire Public Radio is an independent and trusted source for news and information, and the state's largest radio news service. NHPR's newsroom, digital team, and original programs consistently gain national recognition for their in-depth reporting and production. NHPR is the winner of multiple National Edward R. Murrow Awards for overall excellence from 2015 through 2023 and a finalist for the 2024 Pulitzer in Audio Journalism. We have over 23,000 member households, over 60% of which are sustaining members.

Key Job responsibilities:

Financial Management:
   » supervise all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), General Ledger (GL), Cost Accounting, Grant Tracking, Revenue Recognition and all bank reconciliations.
   » Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
   » Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

Accounts Payable:
Manage the accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions. Review and verify invoices and check requests.

Financial Reporting:
   » Prepare and publish timely and accurate financial statements in conformity with GAAP.
   » Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
   » Manage the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
   » Report variances and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.

Internal Controls:
   » Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
   » Monitor and analyze accounting data to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
   » Coordinate and complete annual audits.

Strategic Planning:
   » Provide strategic recommendations to the CFO and members of the executive team.
   » Assist in financial planning and analysis for long-term financial goals.
   » Support fundraising activities and donor reporting requirements.

Team leadership abilities:
   » Lead and mentor budget managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
   » supervise and manage the performance of the accounting staff, including training and development.
   » Assist CFO in leading organizational financial improvement projects.

Required practice/Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
   » Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting practice with at least 3 years in a managery function.
   » Strong expertise of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
   » Proficiency with accounting software and advanced MS Excel expertise.
   » Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational expertise.
   » Strong interpersonal and communication expertise, with the capability to work effectively across departments.

Preferred practice/Qualifications
CPA or CMA designation preferred.
practice in non-profit or public media accounting is highly desirable.

Compensation & advantages:
This is a full-time exempt position with a income range of $90-$115K annually, located on the number of years of practice.
