Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill five part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Facilities/Maintenance positions for the Memorial Union at Oregon State University (OSU) with advancement opportunities to focus on the gaming lounge, administrative work, or marketing.
The Rec Specialist is a DJ, cashier, greeter, steward and pool hall/bowling alley staffer who works as part of an all student team to make MU Lanes & Games the fun place Information technology is. New staff can expect to be trained in policies and procedures and have opportunities to provide their input and ideas into the MU Lanes & Games program.
Anticipated Hourly Rate: $15.90
The Memorial Union (MU) is the campus student union and a department of the division of Student Affairs. The MU is geographically located in the middle of the campus and is considered the ?living room of campus?. The MU welcomes students, faculty, staff, visitors and the local community to campus, and its mission is to provide learning practices and opportunities for personal growth in an open, inclusive and resource-rich community where student and staff collaborate with a Student Advisory Board, who are influential to the character and scope of the department and provide the budget recommendations for the facilities the MU is charged with, services and programs. The MU provides community centered inclusive facilities and space that creates an environment for building significant relationships. The Memorial Union exists to develop students, create learning opportunities and provide quality facilities and services.

Position tasks
   » Handle sales transactions efficiently and effectively
   » Maintain a clean environment
   » Distribute, sanitize, and organize bowling shoes
   » Perform minor/simple repair work on bowling machines
   » Inspect and prepare reservation space before and after each event
   » Interact with customers with they arrive, when they need assistance or when they need to check their behavior
   » Educate guests and customers about our services we provide
   » Take reservation information and communicate to the MU Lanes & Games admin to process
   » Answer phones and provide a high level of customer service

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

   » Must be able to work nights, weekends, and finals week shifts as assigned
   » capability to work well in a team environment and communicate with coworkers, mechanics, and management

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » Interest in Bowling, billiards and/or gaming.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Training to start fall term (Sept. 22) with shadow shifts and cosmic rotations. Anticipated hours per week: 10-15 hours.
