The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking candidates in Speech-Language Pathology for a tenure-track position at the adjunct or Associate Professor rank to begin fall 2025.

candidates should be prepared to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, pursue programmatic research, interact with the clinical and academic programs of the School, advise students, and provide service to the School and University. candidates must have earned a PhD or other research doctorate by the start date, and clinical certification and eligibility for state licensure in SLP are preferred. Candidates with a record of publications and success, or likelihood of success, in obtaining extramural funding commensurate with rank will be strongly preferred.

We are particularly interested in candidates to cover courses in acquired language problems in adults, cognitive linguistics impairments in adults, motor speech disorders, and neural bases of communication. We encourage candidates conducting research in basic sciences related to adult neurogenic communication challenges or who specialize in clinical populations such as traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, or other related conditions to apply. candidates will be expected to also participate in PhD student training. Because our School has established areas of strength in cognitive and neurological sciences, candidates prepared to build on these strengths are likely to thrive in our setting. Our School is expanding its interprofessional training opportunities and the University provides support for development of online programs.

Our historically top-ranked program offers graduate degrees in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and research-oriented PhDs in SLP, audiology, and neuroscience. The School also has an undergraduate degree in American Sign Language and Deaf Studies and is developing a speech-language pathology adjuncts' program. The School (www.memphis.edu/csd) is housed within state-of-the-art teaching, research, and clinical facilities. Information technology includes the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center and supports research and programmatic collaboration with the academic faculty. Many collaborative opportunities exist with other units in the University, such as music, engineering, public health, and health sciences including strong affiliations with the Institute for Intelligent Systems , which focuses on interdisciplinary cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and educational research (see www.memphis.edu/iis/ ). The University of Memphis hosts the Memphis Neuroscience Conference annually in conjunction with the Neuroscience Institute at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. We also have strong links to Lions Club , Church Health Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and other local clinical, educational, and medical communities.
