Number of positions:: 1-2 Department:: 289-UNIT - Classroom Technologies Contact Name:: Evan Dorsey Contact Phone/Extension:: x95219 Position Summary Information Job Description Summary:: Information Technology Technicians for Classroom Support are the main source of technological assistance for professors and presenters in classroom settings. The main responsibilities of these technicians entail: • Answering phone calls made to the Classroom Support Hotline. • Working alongside CTS staff to provide support to university faculty, staff and sometimes, fellow students. • Assessing and resolving reported issues in the classroom. • Guiding professors and presenters on how to use classroom equipment. • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues in classroom equipment. • Writing classroom activity reports describing issues and solutions. During downtime, these technicians may assist with the following: • Equipment inventory and maintenance. • Replacement of broken classroom media equipment when applicable. • Maintenance and updates of Crestron software. Requirements:: Preferred candidates will possess the following expertise: • Excellent written and oral communication expertise, particularly in contexts of customer service; the capability to handle potentially unfavorable situations. • Excellent interpersonal expertise, specifically the capability to cultivate positive work relationships. • Working expertise of media equipment operation and interfacing. • Well-developed problem-solving expertise. • High degree of adaptcapability. • Working expertise of Windows, macOS, Zoom, and PowerPoint. • Classroom Technologies will train any new technicians to be prosperous on the job. Additional Information:: This Information Technology Technician position comes with responsibilities and sometimes challenging situations, but Information technology prepares students for life after college; Information technology provides the expertise, the professional training and the life lessons needed for internal advancement and future fulfilling employment. Physical Demands Summary:: Should be able to carry laptop or similar device. Should be able to efficiently walk to academic buildings on campus. Occasional movement of heavy equipment (40 lbs.) is required, all under staff supervision.
