The Obie Award-winning Pig Iron Theatre Company is seeking a Company Manager to join the Production Management team for its upcoming premiere of FRANKLIN'S KEY.

About the Position
Company Manager, working closely with the Production Manager and adjunct Production Manager, is responsible for superviseing the logistic and hospitality needs of Pig Iron's out-of-town artists while they are working in Philadelphia for our upcoming production of FRANKLIN'S KEY. Company Manager tends to the housing, travel, and general well-being needs of visiting artists.
   » Housing
   » superviseing all Guest Artist housing
   » Acting as first point of contact for any emergent housing issues
   » Familiarizing oneself with applicable union rulebook and artist contacts, as provided, to ensure that accommodations exceed the necessary minimum requirements
   » Completing a Guest Artist Welcome Packet for each visiting artist
   » Serving as liaison between housing hosts and guests
   » Organizing/sourcing basic supplies for out-of-town artists, when necessary
   » Organizing clean up before and after each out-of-town artist's stay
   » Travel
   » Booking appropriate door-to-door transportation for each visiting artist
   » Acting as first point of contact for any emergent travel issues, and problem-solving issues that emerge promptly
   » Connecting visiting artists to their local travel options between the venue and housing accommodations
   » Driving artists point to point in special circumstances
   » Per diem, reimbursements, and budget
   » Ensuring that weekly per diem checks are distributed to artists
   » Collecting any travel-related receipts from artists for reimbursement
   » Under the supervision of the Production Manager, superviseing the Company Management budget line and spending. Tracking expenses, receipts, and petty cash.
   » Communication
   » Act as ambassador to visiting artists - tending to emails, texts and calls promptly as they arise
   » Work closely with PM team to ensure day-to-day operations are going smoothly and artist needs are met
   » Hospitality
   » Maintain rehearsal room & green room hospitality all over rehearsal & production process
   » Coordinate company meals when necessary
   » Provide out-of-town artists with occasional transportation support for groceries or medical needs
About the Applicant

There are no specific degree requirements for this position, but candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent communication, be highly organized and proactive. candidates must be local to Philadelphia, PA, and hold a valid drivers license.

Most weeks, Company Manager time commitment may be 5-8 hours over the course of the week, but time commitment may increase up to 10-12 hours leading up to and during busy periods of artist arrivals/departures. Those times likely include: the beginning of the rehearsal period, the beginning of tech, and all over previews up until opening.
Company Manager is a part-time, temporary position. Work may occasionally be needed on weekends and evenings, and will be considered ?on-call? in the rare case of emergency for the duration of this contract.

Pig Iron's work has toured to 15 countries on 4 continents, with notable stops at the Humana Festival, the Public Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, Woolly Mammoth, TR Warszawa, and the Tokyo Performing Arts Market. Notable collaborators include acclaimed playwrights Toshiki Okada and Will Eno, Emmy-award winning composer Troy Herion, celebrated designers Machine Dazzle and Macarthur Fellow Mimi Lien, and visionary filmmaker Josephine Decker. The company has won 2 OBIE Awards, received the Total Theatre Award from the Edinburgh Fringe, and been nominated for over 50 Barrymore Awards here in Philadelphia (winning 10).
In 2011, Pig Iron launched a 2-year graduate program in physical and devised theater at a new home in North Philadelphia. In 2015, the company partnered with University of the Arts to offer both a Graduate Certificate and an MFA in Devised Performance. The program is on hiatus due to UArts' collapse in June 2024, but Pig Iron plans to reopen this program in 2025 with a new academic partner, Rowan University. In addition to offering an MFA and Certificate, Pig Iron School also hosts professional workshops in physical theater and devising practices every winter and summer.
