Position Summary
   » The Office of Student Life enhances the mission of OSU-Cascades by providing services, resources, activities, and involvement opportunities to support the co-curricular practice of our students. We strive to connect students to the campus community, create opportunities to expand leadership abilities expertise, and inspire students to be life-long learners. Orientation Leaders are a part of Cascades Welcome, which is a series of events and activities to bring students into OSU-Cascades and introduce them to peers, resources, and traditions on campus.
   » This recruitment will be used to fill ten (10) part-time Orientation Leaders (OL) positions for Cascades Welcome (formerly Welcome Week). This position is located in Bend, Oregon.
   » OLs will work various hours in preparation for Cascades Welcome (Welcome Week) at $17/hour starting with training Monday, September 16th. Training will be 20 hours total from Monday, September 16th through Thursday, September 19th (5 hours a day). Cascades Welcome will be up to 40 hours Sunday, September 22nd through Friday, September 27th, with the majority being all day Sunday through Tuesday and a final event on Friday. All OLs have the option to assist with Cascades Connection events July 26th, August 19th, and August 23rd 8:30am to 3:30pm.
   » OLs currently employed by another Office on campus will need to indicate this on their application/resume AND work with their current employer to meet time commitments.
   » Students receiving Work Study as part of their financial aid award are welcome to apply for this position.

Position tasks
   » Orientation Leaders (OLs) work directly with students by leading them through the Cascades Welcome schedule through facilitating small groups and ensuring they are attending events. OLs will also assist with the set-up, tear down, and preparation of events. Opportunities are available to work in July and August at Cascades Connection in-person events.
   » Other Position Responsibilities
   » Assist in the attendance and/or ticketing process for events, including sales, deposits, and tracking payments
   » Complete other administrative tasks as needed
   » Work to learn, enhance, and promote diversity and social justice
   » Represent Cascades Welcome and the Office of Student Life to the OSU-Cascades and Central Oregon community
   » Summer Time Commitments/Important Dates
   » Interviews will begin shortly after applications are received to fill positions before training.
   » Optional: Cascades Connections
   » July 26th, August 19th, August 23rd - 8:30am to 3:30pm
   » Monday, September 16th: OLs begin student training (5 hours a day Monday through Thursday)
   » Sunday, September 22nd to Tuesday, September 24th: Cascades Welcome Orientation Event Support and Small Group Facilitation (HOLD full day, working ~8 hours per day. Option to work additional hours those days OR Wed-Friday).
   » Friday, September 27th: evening event, 5 hours

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

   » Desire or interest in working with a variety of organizations and people from diverse cultures, communication styles, histories, and team structures
   » Strong communication expertise, interpersonal and written

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » Previous practice working for any of the units in Student Life
   » Able to complete work in an accurate and timely manner with autonomy.
   » Prior office practice with the capability to multi-task, assist with organization, and maintain office functions to ensure efficient and effective operations.
   » Able to manage time efficiently and abide by strict deadlines.
   » Motivated, energetic, and able to maintain a positive attitude, especially in stressful situations.
   » practice working with various tools within Bend Beavs Central (formerly CampusGroups) and Microsoft Office365
   » Eligible to return as an OSU-Cascades student for the 2025-2026 (Junior standing or below)
   » In good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment
   » Maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (undergraduates) or 3.0 (graduates) and be in good academic standing
   » Completed Oregon State University Driver Authorization Form and Van Safety Training, or be willing to complete before the start of Welcome Week
