Recently named among "The Best Wineries to Visit in the Santa Ynez Valley Right Now" by Wine Enthusiast, Dovecote Estate Winery is a 250-acre family-owned ranch, vineyard, and winery in northern Santa Barbara County focused on handcrafting small-lot, ultra-premium wines from our two historically significant vineyard sites.

As part of our current growth plan, We are pursuing a manager-level candidate with both winemaking and sales/hospitality practice who will work to establish and manage DTM and wholesale accounts as well as drive further growth in our DTC and club channels. The ideal candidate will also have practice in production work and can assist the current winemaker in various aspects of cellar operations from basic maintenance work to highly technical tasks. This General Manager/adjunct Winemaker function is perfect for someone who is seeking the opportunity to make a directly personal and positive impact on a well-respected boutique brand as Information technology expands to reach the next level.

The appropriate candidate is intuitively organized and will have practice succeeding in and enjoying a very small highly-collegial and entrepreneurial team environment where creativity, efficiency, innovation are encouraged. This is a multi-tasking position where many hats will be worn initially, and a more specialized function will evolve (as well as commensurate compensation) as the business meets its growth targets.

Essential Job responsibilities:

Hospitality and Hosting Management
- Manage inquiries, schedule appointments, and host wine tastings and other visits for interested guests and existing club members.
- Prepare seated tasting space for groups, clean up and restock afterward.
- Serve wine samples, describe wines, farming, AVA, vision, land, history, etc.
- Promote wine sales/club membership.
- Collect tasting fees, sell bottles/cases/merchandise, on-board new memberships.
- Manage stock of tasting room supplies, merchandise, and collateral.
- Manage and coordinate club shipment preparation and logistics.
- Manage customer and industry correspondence including telephone, email, and text inquiries from customers, members, and other interested parties.

Sales and Club Management
- Establish, direct and support DTC, DTM, and wholesale channels in conformity with agreed upon targets.
- Identify, partner with, and manage key distributor and retailer relationships.
- Establish and direct marketing plans, sales goals, inventory management, fulfillment logistics, and shipping compliance.
- Manage and coordinate club shipment preparation and logistics.
- Manage club correspondence including telephone, email, and text inquiries from members.
- Create and manage wine club marketing and communication, monitor sales, and increase and maintain membership.

Marketing
- Maintain a vibrant and brand-positive social and traditional media presence that attracts high-value customers.
- Design, coordinate, and execute on-site and remote events to increase sales.
- Provide outreach to maintain or create new key relationships including calls, visits, and sales outreach to event planners, local hotels/B&Bs, and corporate clients.
- Participate in networking events, association meetings, and concierge groups to promote the winery.
- Work with Owner to create and implement marketing plans and branding strategies.
- Ensure winery website and all collateral material support the winery’s brand and image.
- Design and deploy on-brand marketing content optimized for customer acquisition, high-value visitation, add-on sales, and seasonal promotions.
- Seek out and establish synergistic brand partnerships that emphasize and amplify the business of both parties.

Business Management
- Work with owner to develop budgets, forecasting, and tracking systems that are simple yet provide necessary details for efficient decision making.
- Propose and adhere to budgets; monitor and control expenses.
- Design and implement business processes and forms to support effective financial management and increased efficiency.

Staff Management
- Manage staffing tasks including recruitment efforts, onboarding, orientation, reviews, compliance, corrective actions, and terminations/replacements.

Winemaking Assistance
- Work directly with owner and other staff at Dovecote to grow, harvest, crush, ferment, age, and bottle extraordinary small-lot wines that exemplify the AVA and honor our home terroir.
- Propose and implement changes and improvements to existing winemaking techniques, SOPs, SKUs, and operational practices.
- Assist in standardizing documentation and reporting for historical and future referential access and consistency.
- Assist in formulating blends, identifying and resolving flaws, deciding on additions, and quantifying results.
- Assist in cellar laboratory operations, implementing new protocols, maintaining equipment, and performing/recording analyses.
- Manage and replenish winery and laboratory supplies.

- practice with winemaking, management, sales, and hospitality work.
- Able-bodied: Can lift 50+ pounds repeatedly if needed; can work all day on your feet.
- Comfortable outside in rural and rustic settings during a variety of weather conditions.
- Comfortable working for a small family business wearing multiple hats as needed.

Schedule and Compensation:
- Full time, salaried exempt. $66,560 - $80,000 base pay (DOE) plus tips and significant bonus opportunities for meeting business targets.
