Job Summary The Office of the Dean of Students is seeking an adjunct Director of OSU Assist and Student Care Services. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The adjunct Director of OSU Assist and Student Care Services will primarily supervise the OSU Assist program operations including hiring and training for, supervising, and evaluating service efforts. OSU Assist launched in September 2022, providing a compassionate mobile crisis response for non-life-threatening, but crisis-related, emergent scenarios such as welfare checks, substance misuse, housing insecurity, gender-located violence, or mental health crises. OSU Assist is dispatched as an unarmed, first responder team, trained in behavioral health and crisis response. OSU Assist provides an in-person response, sometimes in lieu of or, when appropriate, in conjunction with law enforcement. The OSU Assist team may also provide crisis response via phone or by other remote means. OSU Assist currently operates 1 PM - 1 AM every day for crisis calls on the OSU-Corvallis campus.

This position supports the Office of the Dean of Students' function in helping the university ensure the safety of the university community, while balancing the needs, well-being, retention, and persistence to graduation of individual students. The adjunct Director will be a member of the Student Care case management team, triaging and coordinating crisis referrals and case follow-up. Additionally, the position will lead efforts to educate and engage the university community on the ?how? and ?why? behind OSU Assist and Student Care services and how these teams intersects with other university resources.

This position requires strong collaboration among university departments and teams such as Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, the Office of Institutional Diversity, the Student Care Team, the Center for Advocacy, avoidance, and Education, Threat Assessment Team, the Bias Response Team, the Department of Public Safety, Equal Opportunity & Access, University Housing and Dining Services and others.

This position will report to the Associate Dean of Student Care Services and will be located in the Office of the Dean of Students in the Division of Student Affairs.

Key Responsibilities 25% OSU ASSIST PROGRAM leadership abilities, DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION:
   » -Provide leadership abilities and oversight including strategic planning, operational management, program development and evaluation, involving both short-term and long-range goals and objectives.
   » -Develop, implement, improve, and evaluate the program, workflow, methods, and support in conformity with University
   » -Determine training needs and make appropriate arrangements for training staff and others involved in the program.
   » -Develop policies and procedures to maximize safety for all involved in the OSU Assist program.
   » -Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and University policies and standards that are applicable to the program, including the Clery Act, Title IX, ADA, VAWA, and FERPA.
   » -Ensure that services are provided in a culturally appropriate manner, taking into consideration factors such as implicit bias, and historical barriers to people of color and other marginalized communities.
   » -Create assessment and reporting that illustrates the successes and areas of improvement of the OSU Assist program and suggest policy and procedure improvements.
   » -Prepare and present narrative and statistical program performance reports and recommendations to the university.

25% RECRUITMENT, SUPERVISION AND OVERSIGHT:
   » -Provide leadership abilities to attract, develop, and retain a diverse, highly competent, service-oriented staff that support the program and the University's mission, objectives, values, and expectations.
   » -Provide leadership abilities, supervision, and direction for assigned staff including evaluating performance.
   » -Coordinate staff schedules and training.
   » -Create and promote an equitable workplace that demonstrates an environment respectful of living and working in a multicultural campus/society.
   » -Ensure that employees are provided with guidance and, where appropriate, opportunity to correct deficiencies, and that appropriate discipline procedures are implemented.

15% STUDENT CARE CASE MANAGEMENT:
   » -Support assigned Student Care referrals through one-on-one student support for individuals navigating concerns around psychological health, physical health, crime victimization, relationship violence, financial concerns, conduct or law violations, or any manner of concern that interferes with a student's capability to function prosperously at the University.
   » -Consult with faculty, staff, and families who are concerned about a student's capability to prosperously manage an emergency or crisis situation.
   » -Advise students, families, faculty, and staff about how policy interacts with each individual's presenting concerns or situation, using comprehensive knowledge of OSU policies and federal guidelines.
   » -Manage non-routine follow up for each situation located on individualized circumstances.
   » -Consult and collaborate in weekly case management meetings with the Dean's designee.

10% CRISIS RESPONSE:
   » -Serve intermittently as a substitute to the OSU Assist rotation if needed to provide direct support to individuals in crisis.
   » -Establish and implement a plan, during and after the crisis response, to prosperously engage individuals, including through referrals to appropriate university or community services and resources.
   » -Consult with Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, Oregon State University Police Department, University Housing & Dining, and/or Dean of Students and others in situations where there is a concern for the individual's safety or the safety of others in the community.
   » -In managing crisis interventions, consult and collaborate with other university interdisciplinary teams as needed, such as the Threat Assessment Team, Bias Response Team, and Student Care Team.
   » -Develop procedures to manage any immediate follow up efforts needed after the initial incident has been resolved (e.g. ,
   » coordinate a counseling or survivor advocacy referral the following day) located on individualized circumstances.
   » -Ensure all documentation and data collection is complete, and appropriate follow up to each crisis incident occurs.
   » -Develop processes and procedures to appropriately share information to involved university offices in the resolution of a situation using comprehensive knowledge of confidentiality, privilege, if any, OSU policies and standards, and professional judgment.

10% INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS:
   » -Coordinate with law enforcement, fire and rescue, and dispatch to determine the most appropriate call types and scenarios appropriate for OSU Assist.
   » -Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal campus partners and outside community-located organizations to partner and provide coordinated wrap-around care services for individuals as part of the crisis response and as follow up referrals.
   » -Provide or coordinate the education and community engagement programming on how OSU Assist and Student Care operates within the university community to support individuals and supports other campus units in doing the same.
   » -Develop training content for OSU students, faculty, staff, and university community members on skill development in engaging with distressed individuals, how and when to contact OSU Assist or Student Care services, and what services these teams will generally provide.

10% ADMINISTRATIVE
   » -Contribute to and maintain proper record keeping and reporting requirements in conformity university's records retention policy and other applicable laws and policies.
   » -Provide input to manager to assist in budget development and oversight for the program.
   » -supervise the use of vehicles, radios and other equipment used to train and to respond to OSU Assist calls.
   » -Review all communication materials related to OSU Assist for current, consistent, and accessible content that is published within the university community.

5% OTHER
   » - Undertake special projects as needed or requested by manager.
   » - Other tasks as assigned.
What You Will Need
   » Masters of Social Work, Masters of Counseling, Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy, Masters of Public Health or similar degree from an accredited program..
   » Two or more years of paid or unpaid demonstrated practice in any number of crisis support and intervention services, such as: suicide avoidance/intervention/postvention, sexual assault survivor support, chemical dependency, crisis case management, and/or crime victim advocacy work.
   » Demonstrated knowledge of various forms of trauma (acute, chronic, racial, generational, etc.) and demonstrated practice in trauma-informed care.
   » Demonstrated commitment to knowledge and applying the principles of diversity, equity, and anti-oppression concepts, processes, and protocols.
   » Demonstrated practice working in or with initiatives that support or engage communities of color and people traditionally underrepresented.
   » Excellent and effective verbal and written communication expertise.
   » Possess and maintain a current, valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of appointment to the position. At the time of application for this position have, and maintain all over the duration of this position, an acceptable driving record located on a DMV motor history vehicle check.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

The Criminal History Check will include fingerprinting and prosperous completion of the Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) online training which requires a minimum of five-year residency in the United States of America or Canada.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule The Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to supporting staff who provide trauma care by creating sustainable work environments. Overall, the employee's schedule will generally be 8 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday, with some evenings and weekends. However, this position serves an on-call shift (1 PM - 1 AM) on an intermittent basis. When the employee is serving an on-call shift, they will not work a traditional 8 am - 5 pm schedule that day nor the following day.

The incident response work required for this position will involve a variety of offsite work locations that may include outdoor locations, private residences, or other locations within the community.

May have to work holidays, evenings, nights, and weekends as connected with the on-call nature of OSU Assist.

This adjunct Director position is deemed essential, and may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other university work curtailments or closures.
