The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine provides excellence in education, patient care, research, and service in mental health. The Department ensures that the academic mission of the Brody School of Medicine is met while providing excellent patient care at our primary teaching facility, ECU Health Medical Center and several on-campus and satellite outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in Greenville and across eastern North Carolina. Job tasks This Accounting Technician is the principal financial support position for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. Under the direction of the Department Administrator, the Accounting Technician will work collaboratively with department faculty and other support staff, other University, BSOM departments and ECU Health to effectively execute financial and administrative activities supporting the clinical, educational, research, and service missions of the Department. This includes all aspects of payable and receivable contracts including tracking contracts in process; initiation and timely completion of payable and receivable transactions; insuring compliance with contract terms as well as University and BSOM policies and procedures, and identifying and independently initiating problem resolution actions as required. This position will prepare routine and ad hoc reports and analysis using Microsoft Office, Banner Finance, INB, E-print, ECUBIC, ODS, and FSPC software. This position will assist in the preparation and management of the annual department budget including preparation of detailed schedules for FFS and contract revenue, as well as personnel, operating and capital expenses; preparation of interim analysis of actual budget; preparation and execution of budget transfers as required; and assist in the preparation of pro forma analysis and new program proposals. Minimum Education/practice High school diploma or equivalency and one year of practice in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and practice. License or Certification required by statute or regulation None Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Accounting practice in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting/financial statements and reports. Knowledge and knowledge of state and university systems/regulations. Knowledge of current policies and procedures to practice the most effective operations of fiscal management.
