We invite applications from scholars who have a strong commitment to covering pressing issues related to social or environmental justice and who can contribute to our college's strategic focus on socio-economic mobility, migration and diaspora, climate change resilience and impact, and health disparities. Requirements for this position are a Ph. D. in one of the disciplines represented by the college's departments or a related field in hand by the time of appointment, a record of and potential for scholarly publications and an active research agenda including success at and potential for externally funded research as appropriate for the applicant's research field. Candidate's research should focus on socio-economic mobility, migration and diaspora, climate resilience and impact, or health disparities and show potential for interdisciplinary collaborations in that area of focus. Candidates should have practice teaching at the college level in a multicultural environment. Desired qualifications include practice collaborating with the community partners and/or in data science applications. Minimum practice/Education UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Preferred Education, Skills and practice Candidates must possess the following Appropriate qualifications: » A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a significant field, in hand by the time of appointment. » Demonstrated skills and a strong record of research and publication in the fields of social or environmental justice, with preference for candidates specializing in socio-economic mobility, migration and diaspora, climate change resilience and impact, or health disparities. » Strong methodological skills in one or more of the following areas: community engaged research, participatory action research, applied humanities, related disciplinary methodologies, and/or data science. » Commitment to engaging with multicultural communities and covering real-world social and environmental justice challenges. » Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the capability to mentor UNC Charlotte's students from different backgrounds and practices. Finalists will be asked to discuss how their teaching practices engage students of different ages, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, identities, and abilities, helping to remove barriers in order to ensure the success of all students regardless of their entry pathway into the university. » A proven track record or the potential to secure external research funding if the field is appropriate.
