Listing description
Iowa Public Radio is seeking a journalism-focused content creator to join our Digital team as Digital Producer - News. This person will work in collaboration with the Digital Director and digital team to grow IPR's digital news audience, maximizing the digital impact of the organization's reporting efforts. To do this, the Digital Producer - News will directly support reporters in their story creation efforts, working with them to evaluate and responsibly shape their reporting for digital audiences, including publishing, placing, and promoting reporters' digital news, series, and other projects. The Digital Producer - News relies on audience data and testing to support their decision-making, and is additionally responsible for weekly analysis and sharing of high and low performing news content with the news team and digital staff.
The Digital Producer - News also maintains a content and platform workflow calendar, and is responsible for everyday content creation deadlines around writing, publishing and promoting news and news-related stories on the website and newsblog. This position maintains and builds upon existing engagement initiatives, and supports IPR's newsletter portfolio by writing a portion of everyday Digest and Chatter, also serving as the primary back-up writer for both newsletters.

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE:
   » $40,000 - $55,803
MINIMUM Appropriate qualifications:
   » At least one year of practice as either an intern or full-time employee in everyday reporting or supporting a journalism organization in digital reporting;
   » practice working in multimedia and digital platforms and expertise of content promotion strategies;
   » Familiarity with AP writing style and demonstrated expertise in writing for print;
   » Firm foundation in journalism ethics, news gathering and reporting techniques;
   » practice creating and optimizing content for search results;
   » Strong oral and written communication expertise; and
   » A valid state-issued driver's license and reliable transportation.
PREFERRED Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Media Production, Communications, English, or related field practice;
   » Strong interest in news and news reporting and familiarity with a broad range of news topics;
   » practice in photojournalism or framing photos to visually tell a story;
   » practice building a personality and presence on at least one social media platform; and
   » A love for the internet, storytelling, and serving an informed public.
