Job Summary Student practices & Engagement is seeking a Craft Center Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Craft Center Director is an administrator within the Student practices & Engagement (SEE) organization and provides leadership abilities for the Craft Center. The Director creates an environment that leverages the strengths of staff, colleagues, and stakeholders, promotes teamwork and accountcapability, and challenges all team members to grow. Responsibilities include providing vision and leadership abilities for developing, implementing, and evaluating services in the 10,500 square foot Craft Center that allow students to create, destress, and renew themselves.

What You Will Need
   » Bachelor's degree in art, liberal arts, business, or a related field significant to the tasks of the position.
   » Five years of full-time equivalent practice in program management, budget oversight, and personnel supervision.
   » Broad expertise of arts and craft materials, tools and equipment and related safety aspects connected with operation and health hazards.
   » Proficiency in one or more craft areas.
   » Teaching practice in a classroom setting, community arts center, or arts program.
   » Competence and efficient computer expertise for spreadsheets, payroll, word processing, and document generation.
   » Demonstrated capability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving expertise to make complex and collaborative decisions.
   » Excellent written and oral communication expertise.
   » A commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and equity.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule The working conditions for this function involve a busy public facility with frequent interruptions and noise. Work hours typically span Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required. The worker may be required to sit or stand at a computer workstation for extended periods. The employee may encounter hazardous art materials and equipment, and the environment can be dusty, dirty, and have material-related smells. The function may involve lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
