Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Greenwing and Postmark.Our lab team at Waterfowl Winery in Hopland, CA is seeking a Harvest Lab Technician to join them for Harvest 2024. This is a great opportunity to lgain diverse winemaking techniques from multiple labels including Duckhorn, Decoy, Goldeneye, and Migration. This position will be responsible for fermentation monitoring, tank and barrel sampling, and wine analysis. Information technology is expected that repeatable, accurate sampling and analyses are provided; and a positive work environment is maintained through active team contribution and open communication. What we will ask you to do: • Evaluate and communicate sensory characteristics of fermentation to the winemaking team. • Follow lab protocols to sample from tanks, barrels, and vineyards. • Perform analysis of grape and wine samples (Brix, TA, pH, alcohol, sulfur, etc.). • Prepare solutions, maintain chemicals, calibrate equipment. • Support cellar with additions and inoculations as needed. • Perform accurate data entry and tracking using Microsoft Excel. • Prepare trials and blends upon request. • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and work overtime (including one weekend day) during peak harvest period. What you will need: • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in enology or science preferred. • Basic lab expertise – including pipetting, titration, and capability to follow protocols. • Good written and verbal communication expertise. • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. • Analytical, critical thinking and math expertise required. • capability to multi-task and prioritize. • Attention to detail and safety. • capability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 45lbs.
