Employment Category Temporary Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Temporary Biological Science Research Technician 1 position for the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University (OSU). This position will provide temporary assistance with several research projects currently underway in the laboratory. Key Responsibilities 80% Conduct a variety of laboratory tasks include preparing media, washing dishes, tissue culture, gene transformation, imaging, data collection, and propagation. 20% Various field and in planta transformation work in the greenhouse or growth chambers, collecting data, taking photos, cleaning and organizing. What We Require Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and practice. What You Will Need A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. What We Would Like You to Have practice in plant root RNA extraction, field measurements of photosynthesis and DNA extraction and plasmid gene cloning. Working Conditions / Work Schedule This position requires the capability to work in the laboratory, greenhouses, and outdoors in all weather conditions. Some weekend work may be required for continuity of experiments.
