Organizational Unit Overview The School of Dental Medicine is composed of ten administrative offices and fouracademic departments. The Administrative units include the Offices of the Dean,Vice Dean, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Dean for Research,Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean for Extramural Clinical Practices,adjunct Dean for Dental Education and Informatics, Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, adjunct Dean for Academic Success and the adjunct Dean for Business
Operations and Financial Affairs. The four academic departments are Surgical Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, General Dentistry and Foundational Sciences.

Included in the mission of the School of Dental Medicine is to educate dental care providers (both dental students and dental residents) and to address the oral health care needs of the underserved population of North Carolina. The School of Dental Medicine meets these missions by operating dental clinics that provide both educational practices for the dental students and residents and provides dental care to the residents of North Carolina. These clinics occur in both Ross Hall in
Greenville, North Carolina, as well as Community Service-Learning Centers located all over North Carolina. In order to operate these clinics, appropriate dental auxiliaries and clinical staff are needed.

Job tasks The purpose of this position is to coordinate and supervise implementation of a 5-year project called, ?Development of Opportunities for Research (DOOR) at Dental Schools? at ECU School of Dental Medicine. The project is funded by NIDCR and involves collaborators at the University of Florida (UF) College of Dentistry. The specific aims of the DOOR project are:

1. Analyze, develop, and implement the DOOR training components, evaluating them in three cohorts of participants.
2. Collect and analyze data in dental student, resident, and community training clinics on two clinical, practice-located studies, with follow-up artificial intelligence processing of data.
3. Assess the practiccapability, acceptcapability, and success of the DOOR framework in producing dental students, residents, and clinical faculty who understand, appreciate, and incorporate clinical research in their future practice and academic work.

DENTAL MEDICINE SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or practice; or equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation N/A

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education practice with database management, IRB submissions, human subjects research and grant-funded research studies preferred.
