Organizational Unit Overview Information technology is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, Information technology is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina, to advance scienti?c knowledge through basic and clinical research, and to provide continuing medical education opportunities for physicians in the region.

Job tasks The purpose of this position is to provide nursing support to the Ambulatory Pediatric Clinics at the Pediatric Specialty Clinic. The responsibilities including providing direct patient care, facilitating ?ow of clinical activities, and a variety of treatments to the assigned patient population. The individual in this position will perform a variety of tasks with some detail, requiring general knowledge and skill in the application of work procedures. Work assignments generally involve patients in reliable condition. Work includes the reinforcement of routine patient teaching and may include participation in orientation of students and other staff of the unit, procedures, and/or the function of the nursing adjunct. All work is performed under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; capability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and capability to make accurate physical observations of patients.

Currently, hours of clinic operation are from 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a rotating scheduled late day to cover patient care.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is a?liated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the ?agship hospital for ECU Health.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Discapability.

Minimum Education/practice Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to execute the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts (AAMA.)

License or Certification required by statute or regulation Depending on candidate qualifications, one of the following will be required:
(1) Contributing: Registered NAI through the NC Department of Health Human Services
(2) Journey: Registered NAII through the NC Board of Nursing
(3) Advanced: Certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts (AAMA) is preferred OR Registered Medical adjunct (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). If not already certified or registered, please note that certification or registration through the previous mentioned organizations, or a CCMA through the National Healthcareer Association, must be obtained 6 months from your start date for continued employment.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education practice with pediatric patients.
