Darlington Arts CenterDarlington Arts Center (DAC) was founded in 1978 on the unique vision of including all four arts disciplines-music, visual arts, dance, and drama- in one space with an emphasis on multi-disciplinary programming. DAC has served the Delaware and Chester counties and Delaware State communities for over 40 years by fostering programs that provide possibilities and opportunities through the exploration of multi-disciplinary arts. Our mission and core value is providing Every Art for Everyone!Darlington Arts Center (DAC) seeks a skilled visual art teaching artist who has at least one year of teaching practice in multiple mediums for group classes at the Center, located at 977 Shavertown Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060 from June 2024 to August 2024. We are seeking to fulfill the position by May 15, 2024. Required practice: At least 1 year of teaching practice A background in various mediums and techniques practice working with children from ages 3-12 Must have clearances (PA Child abuse, FBI Fingerprints, and PA Criminal Background), within the last 5 years (2019). Must have completed before employment can start. Must be available to work Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm for the following weeks: June 17-21 (no camp on June 19) July 1-3 (no camp July 4-5) August 26-29 (no camp August 30) Must have reliable transportation to Garnet Valley, PA. Teaching Artists will: Provide excellent instruction. Including: Showing integrity in teaching methods and pedagogy Helping parents understand the artistic process as well as the finished work that goes home Inspiring student excitement and commitment to study Treating students and parents with respect and kindness Promote Darlington's mission and programs to students and parents Keep an accurate teacher log book, which will serve as an invoice for services Communicate with the office in a clear, consistent and timely manner. Including: Promptly notifying the Program Manager of any schedule changes Responding to phone and email messages within 48 hours Recommend exceptional students and those in need for scholarships Distribute communications to families as provided by the administrative office We evaluate performance using the following metrics: Consistent, Prompt Attendance Student and Parent satisfaction (collected verbally and on bi-annual surveys) Student Retention (across all DAC activities) Student demonstration of improved capability and expertise (as evidenced in their completed work) Observation (classes may be observed by the Executive Director or her designee) Staff Feedback (regarding regular communication and accurate teacher log) Additional expertise and practice (Preferred) Has practice teaching teens and adults Compensation This position is a 1099 contracted employee. Hourly rate is $31.25 per teaching hour.
