Departmental Preferred practice, Skills, Training/suitable education ARNP licensure preferred tasks and Responsibilities 1. supervise the Simulation Technician providing expert consultation, guidance, and preparation of 4 separate simulation rooms the day before the event 2. Supervise nurse practitioner students through simulation training on skills performance of critical acute care nursing scenarios to include: » Airway Management - intubation simulators, intubation supplies » Ultrasound - ultrasound machines & peripheral supplies, ultrasound tissue, gel, cleaning supplies » Suture / incision and Drainage - tissue pads for each procedure, syringes / needles / simulated Lidocaine for regional anesthesia, instruments (needle drivers, scissors, tweezers), suture mats, suture » Radial arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion, central line insertion with Blue Phantom simulators (6 simulators, each must be primed with arterial and venous fluids), supplies both consumable and kits for demonstration, cleaning supplies, literature for each station » Radiology and Ultrasound Interpretation » Suture / Incision and Drainage » Punch Biopsy 3. Evaluate and provide feedback of each students' performance in the various NP skills to ensure quality and safe delivery of critical care 4. Assess, monitor, and coordinate the overall simulation processes in the simulation lab 5. Provide expert consultation as needed to ensure quality and safe delivery of information and skills 6. Supply skills for equipment malfunctions as needed (as backup for simulation technician) 7.
