Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill over 300 part-time (a max of 20 hours per week) Student Food Service positions for University Housing and Dining Services in Corvallis.

Hiring happens all over the year.

Position tasks University Housing and Dining is seeking student Food Service Workers who will work in one of three dining centers or catering .

Dining Position :
   » Must provide exceptional, attentive customer service.
   » Assist customers and answer questions regarding menu items, ingredients, allergens, and current prices.
   » Lgain to cook and prepare menu items using raw products and meats as well as most common food allergens, including gluten.
   » Lgain to use food service equipment including knives.
   » Appropriately portion, assemble and serve menu items to order, including special diet items.
   » Make beverages and stock products and/or ingredients.
   » Operate cash registers; receive cash, OSU ID Card for dining plan deductions, and credit cards; process meal perqs.
   » Restock guest items and maintain cleanliness of work area, serving area, and dining room.
   » Help in all tasks related to the preparation, service, storage, and transportation of hot and cold foods, as well as raw and prepared foods, using the food safety principles of HACCP.
   » Assist in dish washing, equipment sanitation, and frequent cleaning tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
   » All employees are regularly reassigned as needed to assist in other work areas on occasions when a location is short staffed.
   » This position typically has a consistent schedule.

Catering Position :
   » Gathers equipment, food, and beverage for a catering event
   » Delivers to the specified location on or off-campus
   » Meets event deadlines, while ensuring food quality and safety.
   » Events take place 7 days a week and may require early or late work shifts.
   » Driving a Catering vehicle can be an essential part of the job.
   » The schedule for this position varies located on event needs.

The Catering positions will deliver, or collect, food and beverage items in access-secured residence halls, where there may be minors present; and/or this position may need to regularly access storage areas in a residence hall without an escort. These security sensitive tasks will require passing a Criminal History Check.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications Valid Oregon Food Handlers Certificate within 30 day of employment and must always maintain a food handler's card while employed with UHDS.

Must be able to understand both written and verbal instruction, to ensure employee and guest safety.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
   » Students are expected to work 10 to 20 hours per week. Available shifts will vary. Schedule to be determined by hiring unit and student's availcapability.
   » Good attendance is crucial for stcapability and day to day business needs.
   » Must follow schedule and be on time, in uniform, when shift begins.
   » May require walking, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
   » May require maneuvering heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
   » This is a physically active job in a kitchen and food service environment. There may be long periods of standing on a hard floor, working with commercial kitchen equipment, fluctuation in workflow, temperature, and noise level.
   » Uniform requirement - slip resistant shoes and long pants are required and must be provided by employee.
