Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Sutton Plant Clinic Office position for the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University (OSU).

We are pursuing a student to work at the front desk of the OSU Plant Clinic. The front desk will perform intake on plant samples, customer service, and billing. This involves greeting and communicating with clients, assisting them with submission forms, detailed record-keeping, sending invoices, and other office tasks. This position requires multi-tasking, good time management expertise, and paying close attention to details including typos. The student will work alone in the office with minimal supervision once trained.

expertise and use of Microsoft Office is required (practice with Word and Excel are required, Access is preferred). The student must have excellent English communication expertise, both oral and written, and they must be available to work during spring break and summers. Insects may be present on samples received, so this job is not for students that are squeamish regarding live insects and spiders.

Position tasks 30% Record-keeping and paperwork
20% Intake of plant and arthropod samples
20% Other office tasks (end-of-year reports and tasks, making signs, managing recycling, tasks to assist the director/diagnosticians, etc)
15% Billing clients and following up on late payments
15% Customer service, emails, and phone calls

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
