Organizational Unit Overview The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, one of only four academic Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine programs in North Carolina offering a three-year fellowship, has a broad-located faculty with interests and skills in all aspects of the specialty including, outpatient consultative care, Medical Critical Care, and all procedural aspects of the specialty, including interventional pulmonology and medical thoracoscopy.

Job tasks The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking a Medical/Nursing adjunct - Advanced to assist in outpatient clinic. Responsibilities of this position include maintaining patient flow, performing patient workups by collection of data, assisting health care providers with clinical procedures, administering medications, performing basic laboratory tests, triage phone calls and medication refills, patient education and assisting with six-minute walk tests under the close supervision of a Professional Nurse or Physician. Employee may also perform routine clerical functions.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Discapability.

Minimum Education/practice Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to execute the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts (AAMA.)

License or Certification required by statute or regulation Depending on candidate qualifications, one of the following will be required:
(1) Contributing: Registered NAI through the NC Department of Health Human Services
(2) Journey: Registered NAII through the NC Board of Nursing
(3) Advanced: Certification through the American Association of Medical adjuncts (AAMA) is preferred OR Registered Medical adjunct (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). If not already certified or registered, please note that certification or registration through the previous mentioned organizations, or a CCMA through the National Healthcareer Association, must be obtained 6 months from your start date for continued employment.
