Belk College of Business(4 positions available) is dedicated to helping undergraduate students discover, plan, and achieve their academic and career goals, while learning to become 21st century global business leaders. The Niblock Student Center Academic and Career Coach will advise and counsel undergraduate business students through self-assessment, career exploration, major selection, and in their progress toward degree completion in the Belk College of Business. This individual will also direct students to academic support and other campus resources, provide group presentations and workshops, proactively use campus advising systems as the basis for interventions with students, maintain notes and records on advising interactions, participate in recruitment and orientation events and implement and administer University and Belk College of Business policies. Information technology is preferred that the candidate have a degree or significant work practice in higher education and/or business.

College of Computing and Informatics - (3 positions available) The Academic Advisor in the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) will assume advising responsibilities for any University students declaring or expressing an interest in the Computer Science major. The advisor must have the capability to work autonomously in a complex, team-oriented academic office with significant advising caseload. The advisor must have a commitment to student success and the capability to listen and analyze academic needs. The advisor must also relate well to faculty and staff and provide support to them as requested. While not required to teach, Academic Advisors in CCI may be requested to coordinate and/or participate in seminars offered each year to students. In addition, the advisor fulfills other responsibilities as needed and assigned by the Director of Academic Advising and Student Success.

College of Science(2 positions available) began in September 2023 when the former College of Liberal Arts and Sciences split into two colleges: the College of Science, and the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences. This college is a community of faculty, staff, and students that is shaping the future. Science is at the heart of everything we do: inclusive teaching and mentoring, innovative research, engagement with the Charlotte region, leadership abilities in professional organizations, entrepreneurship, and developing the leaders of tomorrow. The individual in this function will be involved with establishing critical advising services offered by this new college. Therefore, preference will be given to candidates who have practice in at least one of the science disciplines within the college - Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, and/or Physics or in other related areas of science.

College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (CHESS) (6 positions available) - The College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (CHESS) is the University's largest college. The CHHS Advising Center serves pre-majors and minor undergraduate students within the college's academic programs. Academic Advisors help students develop the expertise, expertise, and personal accountcapability needed to explore their academic and co-curricular options, evaluate and track their own progress toward upper level admission and graduation, access support and enrichment services, and understand and follow university policies and timelines. Advisors collaborate with faculty in CHHS to provide services and programming to students. While not required, Information technology is valuable to have candidates with prior work in a relative health or human services field and/or relative higher education practice within these majors.

Cato College of Education (1 position available) . The Office of Teacher Education Advising and Licensure (TEAL) provides a critical set of services to undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students before their admission to a Teacher Education program and to all students when they are applying for licensure. Responsiveness and accuracy in assisting students and faculty members are the office's primary goals. Well-planned and organized procedures in the areas of academic advising, professional licensure processing, and general information dissemination help students succeed in fulfilling academic and licensure requirements. The strongest candidate will have administrative or professional advising practice, practice working in a P12 education setting, and practice working in a college or university setting.

College of Arts + Architecture(1 position available) (CoA+A) is a vibrant community committed to preparing students for a lifetime of sustained creative inquiry and professional practice through the arts, design, and performance. Information technology is preferred that the candidate have recognized practice in the study of one or more of the disciplines of the academic units of the College of Arts and Architecture - Art & Art History, Dance, Music, Theatre, and Architecture. The advisor will be cross-trained to support the needs of student curricular requirements for CoA+A units. They will serve as a general information liaison to local/regional high schools and community colleges and represent the college at recruitment events. Additionally, this individual will be closely involved with retention efforts within the CoA+A.

Primary Purpose of Department Primary purpose of academic advising at the university is to provide students with the support needed to prosperously navigate their academic practice from first enrollment to graduation.

Primary Purpose of Position This position is committed to engaging students in personal development and self-assessment, teaching students how to effectively manage their academic success and supporting students through exploration of their major and career development plans. Students are expected to develop plans consistent with their interests, abilities, and aspirations and to utilize available resources to achieve their long-term goals. This individual ensures that students have access to accurate and significant information so that they can take initiative and responsibility for their success. This individual upholds the expectations and standards of advising at Charlotte in a professional and respectful manner that reflects an appreciation for students from all backgrounds.

Summary of Position Responsibilities Individual Assistance: The Academic Advisor will assume advising responsibilities for any assigned student wherein the function is placed at UNC Charlotte. This individual will also be responsible for supporting students declaring or expressing interest in the assigned College/School. The advisor must have the capability to work autonomously in a complex, team-oriented academic office while also building strong alliances with faculty and other campus partners that support the holistic development of students. The advisor must have a commitment to student success and the capability to listen and analyze academic needs.

Additional Assistance : The Academic Advisor will also be engaged in other activities that support the orientation, onboarding, and consistent communication to UNC Charlotte students. These activities might include teaching and seminar facilitation, event participation, coordinated messaging, and other tasks as assigned.
