Position Summary This recruitment will be used to create a pool of part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Technical adjunct positions for the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).

The positions are located out of the off-campus Soap Creek Beef Ranch.

Qualified candidates will be contacted as positions become available. The positions include animal care and maintenance of the facility and pastures, and may include research and data collection.

Position tasks The function of this position is to assist the Beef Ranch manager in everyday operations of the Soap and Berry Creek Beef Ranches. tasks include:
   » Feeding, watering, and caring for the animals and ensuring proper health is a top priority.
   » Collaboration with the farm manager and fellow student employees, as well as some individual work.
   » Keep a safe, clean, and organized environment for people and livestock.
   » Facility upkeep for the main beef ranches as well as other campus locations.
   » Build and repair fence.
   » Assist with cattle management including calving, vaccinating, and doctoring, as needed.
   » Assist with setting up for labs and research studies, as needed.
   » Drive ATVs and farm equipment, as needed.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

   » Must be dependable, possess a strong work ethic, and be able to work without supervision in a team setting.
   » Must possess strong communication expertise and the capability to follow directions.
   » Have a availability to lgain and complete any and all assigned tasks.
   » This is an off-campus work location. The employee MUST have reliable transportation to the Soap Creek Ranch, located near Adair Village off Hwy 99W.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
   » This is an off campus facility, employee must have a reliable form of transportation.
   » Employee may have exposure to noxious odors, infectious diseases, chemicals, loud noises, slippery floors, and machinery.
   » Employee will be exposed to inclement weather conditions.
   » Employee will need to maneuver items that weigh up to 50 pounds.
   » Employee may be required to stoop, bend, and kneel to provide care of the animals.
   » Overnight shifts on rare occasion.
   » Employees are expected to work at least one weekend per month.
   » Employees work schedule will be set according to class schedule.
