Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one CAMP Scholar Intern Mentor position for University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) at Oregon State University (OSU).

The CAMP Scholar Internship (CSI) program is a collaboration between the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) and University Housing & Dining Services (UHDS). In consultation with Diversity Initiatives and Programs (DIP), the CSI Mentor supports the 14 CAMP Scholar Interns in their transition to college and their personal, academic, and internship success. The CSI Mentor will serve as a direct liaison between the CAMP Scholar Interns, the DIP Coordinator, and CAMP.
The prosperous candidate will be responsible for creating weekly professional development opportunities with support from the DIP Coordinator, conduct a weekly one-on-one meeting with each CSI, review and respond to their weekly journal entries, and assist with the overall leadership abilities of the program. The CSI Mentor will also assist in the selection of the new class of CSIs during the Spring 2025 term.
As an employee of Oregon State University (OSU), the CSI Mentor is a university representative, and are to abide by University policies, state, federal, local laws, and UHDS policies in their relationships and contacts both on and off the campus all over the duration of their appointment. This is a 20 hour per week position. Students may only work a maximum of 24 hours per week in any on campus position. Working any additional hours off campus is subject to approval by the AC.

The CSI Mentor Position is a one-year leadership abilities opportunity, for the 2024 -2025 academic year. The employment period is for one full academic year (fall, winter and spring terms).

Position tasks To meet the objectives of DIP, the responsibilities and tasks of the CSI Mentor position include but are not limited to the following:
   »leadership abilities & PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
   » Meet with CAMP Scholar Interns (CSI) on a weekly one-on-one basis, review, give weekly feedback to the CSI Canvas discussion posts, and support CSIs with appropriate follow up.
   » Help coordinate weekly professional development meetings in collaboration with DIP coordinator, including scheduling of presenters.
   » Be a support for the CSIs including answering questions, campus referrals and availcapability.
   »ADMINISTRATION
   » Meet regularly with the DIP Coordinator.
   » Use voicemail, email, phone, in-person, and written communication as needed and directed; as well as check all points of communication at least once everyday and respond as requested in a timely manner.
   » Other administrative tasks outlined via the DIP Coordinator.
   »DEPARMENTAL SUPPORT
   » Assist with the selection of new CSI cohort in spring term.
   » Participate in UHDS, DIP, and CAMP events as required.
   » Attending monthly staff meetings with CAMP.
   »TRAINING & ON-GOING DEVELOPMENT
   » Participate in fall training and staff orientation activities, which may include parts of the following:
   » CSI Mentor Training
   » Social Justice Training
   » UHDS Student Staff Training
   » Actively participate in all trainings as required through the academic year, including, but not limited to:
   » Racial Aikido Social Justice Retreat
   » MLK Day of Service
   »POLICY EXPECTATIONS
   » Understand, abide by, and philosophically support the guidelines for student behavior in the ?UHDS Policy Guide? and ?Student Conduct Code?.
   » Understand, support, and adhere to UHDS policies and procedures relating to:
   » Sexual Assault Response
   » Bias Response
   » Fire/Evacuation/Emergency response
   » Key/Access device security
   » Confidentiality/FERPA
   » Consensual Relationships
   » University Computer/Network Acceptable Use Policy
   » Staff Assessment Process and Evaluation Criteria

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications To meet the objectives of DIP, the minimum qualifications of the CSI Mentor position include:
   » Be a current full time OSU or degree partnership student with OSU.
   » Good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA required & good conduct standing with OSU & UHDS.
   » Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal expertise.

   » Commitment to promoting academic and personal success.
   » Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational expertise.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications To meet the objectives of DIP, the preferred qualifications of the CSI Mentor position include:
   » Strong interest and/or practice working with issues of diversity and social justice.
   » Familiarity with CAMP and/or the CSI program
   » Current and/or past resident of UHDS
   » Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred)

Working Conditions / Work Schedule TERMS AND CONDITIONS
   » In addition to the tasks outlined in this position description, the CSI Mentor must abide by the following terms and conditions. Failure to abide by any term and condition may result in termination:
   » GPA and Student Status
   » The CSI Mentor is required to meet full time student status. Enrolling in more than 16 credit hours requires prior approval from the DIP Coordinator.
   » Undergraduate students are expected to maintain a minimum term GPA of 2.0 and a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Graduate students must remain in good standing with the Graduate School. Failure to do so may result in removal from the position.
   » Requirements of the CSI Mentor Position
   » prosperous completion of all required sessions prior to and during service.
   » Fall Training may begin as early as August 28, 2024 and lasts all over Welcome Week. The CSI Mentor is expected to participate in fall training in its entirety. If you are interested in taking Summer 2024 courses, you will be expected to plan your schedule around all training sessions. Failure to be present for any part of the training without prior approval from the DIP Coordinator will result in termination from the CSI Mentor position.
   » For the 2024 - 2025 academic year, do not schedule any classes or other commitments on Mondays evenings from 4:00 - 6:00 pm to allow for CSI Professional Development Meetings.
   » UHDS is the primary employer. Other employment, adjunctships, campus involvement requires serious consideration and advance discussion with the DIP Coordinator and should be considered as secondary to the tasks of the CSI Mentor position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
   » Typically, the CSI Mentor works indoors. Occasionally, the CSI Mentor will encounter the following circumstances:
   » Lifting up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 70 pounds.
   » Effectively communicating with members of the public.
   » A dynamic work schedule/setting.
   » Managing/leading large groups. COMPENSATION
   » As compensation for the prosperous completion of tasks outlined, the CSI Mentor will receive:
   » Residence hall room. The CSI Mentor may be assigned roommates on a temporary basis as part of the UHDS Temporary Housing Plan.
   » The CSI Mentor will receive a meal plan for Fall Term (14 weeks including Training and Welcome Week), Winter Term (11 weeks), and Spring Term (11 weeks).
   » A $360 per term stipend, disbursed in $120 intervals.
