The Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking a Senior Geospatial Software Engineer. This is part-time (0.75 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position in the Division's Partnerships Unit. Please refer to the Working Conditions section for details on the flexible work arrangement.

This Senior Geospatial Software Engineer (IT Systems Specialist) is a member of the Rural Communities Explorer team. The Rural Communities Explorer (RCE) is an initiative of the Division of Extension and Engagement's (Division) OSU Open Campus Program in the Partnerships Unit. This continuous professional faculty position has a base FTE of .75 and will have the potential to increase with funding opportunities. This position is supervised by the Director of Open Campus.

OSU Open Campus has a focus on community engagement, development of learning opportunities, and increasing access to post-secondary education. Education is offered locally, using distance technology, face-to-face learning and partnerships that blend strengths and resources.

This Information technology Systems Specialist is responsible for developing technological solutions for research-located databases and web-located programs or systems (such as custom data dashboards, data visualization, and GIS integration) that contribute to the high-quality services of the Division and the RCE team. This position leads RCE's efforts in specialized information technology work in the field of geographic information systems (GIS), including resource management and technical design, testing, and implementation. The position is also responsible for taking on special projects at the discretion of the Director of Open Campus.

This position works across disciplines and collaborates with faculty and staff and other partners to meet the demands for data analysis and communication needs related to statewide focus areas of Oregon populations and communities, including economic, social, demographic, and environmental indicators at the community, county, and state level. The specific areas of programming are determined in conjunction with local communities, Extension, and other OSU partners.

This Information technology Systems Specialist is also part of a team of Extension faculty and staff serving the state. Collaborative work across disciplines, organizations, and programs areas is expected. This individual is also expected to develop appropriate specialized Information technology skills to support statewide RCE programming. The specializations will be determined in consultation with the Director of Open Campus and will be complementary to other Extension faculty and staff in the region or state. Active and effective communication with colleagues and key stakeholders is critical to the success of this position; wireless access may be necessary.

   » Bachelor's degree in Geography, Economics, Social Sciences, Computer Science or related discipline.
   » Three (3) years of computer mapping practice including at least two years of specialized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) practice, including practice with ArcGIS Online.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule The primary work location for this position is the OSU Open Campus Office in Ballard Extension Hall on OSU's campus in Corvallis, Oregon. However, flexible work may be established via OSU's Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement Form , with pre-determined periodic reviews of on-going work for continuation of the agreement.
