Purpose: Lead the library's instruction program. Provide reference and circulation assistance to students, faculty and staff. Assist with outreach, collection management, and cataloging.
Requirements:
   » Master's degree in library science and/or information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
   » 1-2 years of library practice in an academic institution. At least one year's practice developing and providing instruction, training and/or reference services.
   » Exceptional communication, interpersonal, presentation, and teaching expertise.
   » Exceptional organizational expertise, problem-solving expertise, attention to detail and accuracy, and the capability to set and keep deadlines.
   » expertise of the (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education.
   » expertise of professional standards in resource description.
Preferred:
   » Familiarity with OCLC Connexion, Sierra ILS, EBSCO (or other) Discovery Layer, and LibGuides.
   » managery practice.
   » Undergraduate degree in visual art, design, or art history.
Job responsibilities:
Instruction Outreach & Engagement
   » Lead information and visual literacy instruction classes.
   » Provide research assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
   » Collaborate with Library Director in developing the library information literacy (IL) program, including assessment of student learning.
   » Develop guides, handouts, and other resources on IL and library resources.
   » Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate IL competencies into instruction sessions, assignments, and course content.
   » Contribute to library social media, lead/participate in library events, and coordinate orientations for new students and new faculty.
Circulation
   » In rotation with other staff members, participate in Circulation Desk coverage.
   » In collaboration with Circulation manager, contribute to work study student supervision & training.
   » Respond to or appropriately forward phone inquiries and emails.
   » Assist patrons in the use of computers, scanners, printers, and the Library Instruction Lab.
   » supervise interlibrary loan services.
Acquisitions & Cataloging
   » Assist with copy cataloging of new materials.
   » Assist with collection evaluation, deaccessioning, and record maintenance projects.
   » Make resource acquisition recommendations and assist with orders.
   » Assist in processing and maintenance of physical and digital theses collection.
Archives
   » Assist with internal and external archive requests.
   » Assist with filing and shelving materials in the Archives.
   » Assist with records management and maintenance of historical collections
Other
   » Maintain current expertise of the research, trends, and best practices in all aspects of the position.
   » Assist with coordination and upkeep of library spaces
   » Work on special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Library Director.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
capability to occasionally move boxes up to 20 pounds, books, heavy book trucks or similar items.
8 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday during the regular semester. Some evenings and Saturdays as needed for instruction requests and special events, to be scheduled in advance.
