Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 10 hours per week) Program adjunct positions for the STEM Leaders program at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Program adjunct will support the OSU STEM Leaders Program staff in carrying out day-to-day operations of the Program. They will also meet with small groups of mentees over the course of three terms to discuss undergraduate research and any issues that the mentees might be facing. Program adjuncts work closely with STEM Leaders Program personnel to communicate any serious issues or concerns about their mentees and maintain program directives all over the year.

There will be a required Program adjunct training in early September before school starts. More information will be shared as the date approaches.

Position tasks The Program adjunct tasks will include:
   » Organizing program data
   » Managing program website
   » Attending program recruitment events
   » Creating marketing materials
   » Assisting with emailing and following up with program participants and peer mentors
   » Participating in summer START sessions (flexible)
   » Mentoring first-time undergraduate researchers

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
   » candidates must either be a returning Peer Mentor, an alumnus of the OSU STEM Leaders Program, or have participated in undergraduate research at a university.
