Employment Job Category: Administrative/Professional Regular/Temporary: Regular If temporary, list duration: Type of Appointment: Fiscal Contract Period: 12 month Position Summary Information Position Summary: The Latino Community Resource Center Coordinator supports Austin Peay State University efforts toward building and sustaining a vibrant campus community which fosters a pluralistic learning environment and sense of belonging for students, with a particular emphasis on Hispanic/Latinx student populations. The coordinator will be with a team that drives the strategy, vision, multidisciplinary and data-informed approach; and operational leadership abilities to develop, inspire, and create a campus community where students thrive. This position collaborates in a cross-Divisional and cross-institutional approach to administer the services, functions, and activities related to student support services. The Coordinator guides and advises students in designing programs that create a sense of belonging and offer opportunities for personal growth and identity development. The coordinator will serve with a student-centered approach that contributes to a caring and safe campus life environment that supports the holistic success of Hispanic/Latinx students. Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: Community Building and Programming » Coordinate programs and services to enhance the social development and success of students and foster a welcoming social environment and campus belonging. » Coordinate the planning of signature celebratory programming such as, but not limited to, Hispanic/Latinx Heritage month. » Facilitate collaborative partnerships with faculty and other departments in presenting programs and fostering appreciation for culture through lectures, art, discussions and workshops. » Advise, and foster creation of, student organizations supporting the belonging of Hispanic/Latinx students. Student Success » Coordinate programs and services to enhance the academic success of students with a focus on initiatives related to retention, graduation, and career development. » Facilitate collaborative partnerships with faculty and other departments to create and support initiatives that boost the academic and career success of students. » Assist in the recruitment of under-represented students by participation in events such as GOVS Orientation and GOVS Preview Days. Department and Division » Coordinate the management of resources of the Center, authorize expenditures and monitor the departmental budget in conformity with APSU policies and procedures. » Communicate regularly with the Center Advisory Committee and schedule meetings as appropriate. » Collaborate with community partners to provide resource support for students. » Coordinate timely and accurate preparation of reports. » Stay informed and educate the University community and stakeholders as needed regarding issues, trends, and regulations impacting Hispanic/Latinx students. » Participate in related professional organizations for continuing development. » Other tasks as assigned. expertise, expertise, and Abilities: » Integrity, kindness, creativity, and decisiveness. » Motivation to create a caring and safe student practice. » capability to serve with agility; important to lead, listen, and serve with empathy. » A commitment to practicing open communication and inspiring trust. » Desire to collaborate with colleagues. » Demonstrated sincere enjoyment from working with students. Physical Requirements: » Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Required expertise and Appropriate qualifications: » Bachelor's degree and related practice. » Proficient in Microsoft Office » expertise of best practices to support Hispanic/Latinx students in the university setting » expertise that exemplify collaboration, communication, action and advocacy. » capability to lead, develop, and work with a diverse staff. » Advanced oral and written communication expertise. » capability to administer multiple deadlines and tasks. » Demonstrated capability to analyze and assess data. » capability to plan student programs. Preferred expertise and Qualifications : Complementing the required expertise and Appropriate qualifications: » Master's degree, and at least 2 years of related practice as a full-time professional or graduate adjunct. » Fluency in Spanish. » practice with leading special initiatives, programs, and strategic planning.
