Position DescriptionJob responsibilities:The vice president for workforce and institutional advancement is a direct report to the president. This position provides leadership abilities and direction for workforce development (continuing education) which includes college and career readiness, institutional advancement (R-CCC Foundation), and the small business center. The position is responsible for planning and organizing the operations of the workforce development (continuing education) and college and career readiness departments, institutional advancement (R-CCC Foundation), and the small business center. Plans and organizes the everyday operation of the division to include some or all the following: evening and weekend classes, continuing education courses, off campus activities, college and career readiness instruction, industry projects, customized training, and other adult education. Assists community leaders with the recruitment of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses within the service area. Conducts industry job/training analysis; Conducts presentations and briefings. Participates in community events promoting the college and related programs. Major tasks and responsibilities include the following: Plans and organizes the work of multiple unit's work to meet the college's objectives; Develops and maintains a working relationship with external contacts to promote the college; Develops and submits grant proposals for private funding for the R-CCC Foundation; Manages and supervises financial/budget operation of the division; Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with the Board of Trustees policy manual and department procedures; Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the departments. Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals upon reviewing of all significant information; Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and adjusts as needed; Maintains up-to-date policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact the workforce division (continuing education) initiatives. Works closely with other administrators to create a team environment. Performs other tasks as assigned by the president. COMPETENCIES: expertise of budget development and management principles; expertise of local demographics, regional issues, and the social culture of the community; capability to relate effectively to people of varied academic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds using act, diplomacy and courtesy; Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs; Oral and written communication expertise; Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; Decision making and problem solving expertise; expertise of budget expenditures, college programs, purposes and results.
