Position Title: Medical Coding Specialist Instructor- Part-Time

General Description: Provide classroom instruction to non-credit students on Medical Coding. Prepares the student for employment as a Medical Coder and to pass the Certified Professional Coding (CPC), American Association of Professional Coders exam. In conjunction with staff members, perform instruction, and reporting requirements as specified by director. This is part-time position. Reports to the Director. Off-campus work within Union County may be required.

Characteristics, tasks, and Job responsibilities: • Provide Medical Coding instruction to students including anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.
• Communicate class content to the students so that learning occurs, expertise are developed, and students are motivated to lgain and achieve their training objectives.
• Prepare students for employment as a Medical Coder and to pass the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), American Association of Professional Coders exam.
• Instruct students on principles of medical coding related to the three main code books: CPT®, ICD-10- CM Code Set and HCPCS Level II.
• Prepare and enter grades in CEWD database Participation Evaluation Reports PERS upon notification of readiness.
• Conduct required assessments.
• Respond to program requests.
• Accepts all other assignments which will help CEWD realize contractual goals.
• Travel to all campuses and satellite locations as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned by director and CEWD administration.
• At all times exercise professionalism and confidentiality with staff and students.
• Maintain everyday attendance.
• capability to teach remote live.

Education Requirements: • Minimum of High School Diploma required. Associate degree in a health care field preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certificate.
• AAPC Approved Instructor Certificate.
• 5 years significant practice in the medical field minimum.

practice: • expertise of navigation of healthcare industry rules and regulations, including HIPAA, False Claims Act, Fair Debt Collections Act, and Stark law.
• Use of remote-live platform for instruction.
• Strong computer, interpersonal and organizational expertise.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: • This position's tasks are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, located on the activity scheduled.

• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
