Posting DetailsPosition InformationPosting Number: 20112889 Position Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse-Hourly(Pooled Position) FTE: Employment type: Staff Department: Student Health Center Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function: The licensed vocational nurse (LVN) will perform nursing tasks within their scope of practice while on duty. tasks include but not limited to rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, assess and chart pertinent medical information. Assist medical providers with formulated diagnosis and treatment plan. Dispense medications as prescribed, scheduling referrals and appointments as needed. Maintain the clinic with supplies, sanitation, and equipment safety. What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities » Responsible for everyday operations within the Student Health Center medical clinic. » Perform all nursing tasks related to the care and medical treatment of the patients as directed by the charge nurse and medical providers. » Assists with referrals, follow-up care, and medication dispensing. » Collaborates with other university entities to ensure exemplary student support and success. » Maintains clinic environment for cleanliness, adequate supplies, equipment maintenance and safety. » Assists with front office coverage as needed. » Performs other tasks as assigned. Key Competencies » expertise of electronic medical charting software: Medicat preferred. » expertise of college or university clinic and campus operations. » capability to manage multiple patients and provider tasks simultaneously. » Skilled at discussing sensitive health topics. » capability to adhere to HIPPA, FERPA and other federal, state and local security release laws. » Actively participate in campus or community events. Physical Requirement » Able to lift 40 pounds and assist patients with standing, sitting, and lying. Able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and standing for long periods of time. Job Conditions » Seasonally fast paced medical office. Emotionally challenging at times. Patients present with a wide variety of physical and emotional needs. Must be able to communicate effective with university students from all over the world about their health needs while remaining culturally sensitive to them. Must be alert and identify potentially emergent situations with appropriate action. Communicate effectively with students, staff and management.
