To Be Done Studio (TBD Studio) harnesses the inherent goodness in people and the power of design to create sustainable solutions to the pressing problems that our world faces. We design and build spaces that uplift, inspire and support power within the communities Information technology serves. We believe that a significant design practice must be accessible to all rather than a few. TBD is currently seeking a design associate to work on architectural, urban and rural design projects. Our office is located in Washington, DC, and we work nationally. this function will report to the Senior Architectural Designer. Position Title: Intern Job location: Washington, DC Start Date: May, 2024 Compensation: Hrly - $20-$22 Main Purpose and Function: To Be Done studio works to create long lasting and impactful solutions to the multifaceted issues many communities in our country face, we work up and downstream of challenges. We research and engage local and topic area experts to ensure we are well informed before proceeding with design. We design robust solutions that take into consideration social, environmental sustaincapability and climate change. At times, we take the work all the way through and do the construction/fabrication ourselves. The Architectural Designer will: » Support all phases of the design process » Support and lead community engagement efforts » Aid in the development of design and construction documents We value team members who: » Enjoy applying themselves creatively to Architectural Design challenges » Thrive when given independence in project management situations » Support the design, engagement, and implementation of architectural and/or urban design initiatives, some travel to project sites required. » Enjoy supporting our clients and partner organizations. » Enjoy being ingrained in their local community as well as supporting work in other geographies. » Are excellent teammates (of course!) Appropriate qualifications: » Completed 4 years of architectural education or have completed 2 years of an MArch program. » Excellent visual communication expertise and graphic design » Proficiency in Archicad (Preferred), Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite » Attention to detail with outstanding verbal and written communication expertise that includes phenomenal follow-through and documentation Commitment: This position is full time (40hrs per/week). Travel for site visits will be required. Our office operates on a hybrid work model however reserves the right to request in-person employment.
