Employment Job Category: Administrative/Professional Regular/Temporary: Regular If temporary, list duration: Type of Appointment: Fiscal Contract Period: 12 month Position Summary Information Position Summary: The Head Men's Golf Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for coaching the Men's Golf team. Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN. Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: -Carry out all aspects of the Men's Golf program necessary to accomplish objectives of the sport within the guidelines of the Athletic Department, University ASUN, and NCAA rules. -Responsible for recruiting highly skilled student-athletes for the Men's Golf team. -Responsible for adhering to the policies and regulations of the University, Department of Athletics, ASUN, and NCAA; responsible for the orientation of student-athletes and boosters to these guidelines. -supervise the conduct and discipline of student-athletes. -Work with admissions and academic coordinator in the enrollment of student-athletes. -Assist in fundraising in both Men's Golf and with major fund raisers in the Athletic Department, in consultation with the Office of Advancement and the Athletic Director. -Counsel the student-athlete in sport participation, personal development and athletics. -Responsible for completing Office of Admission assignments on an annual basis. -In consultation with the Athletic Director or designee: -Select, supervise and evaluate adjunct coaches. -Manage sport budget. -Market and promote sport program. -Participate in athletic department major fundraising efforts. -Develop a sport schedule. -Perform other job-related tasks as assigned. expertise, expertise, and Abilities: -capability to evaluate and recruit highly skilled student-athletes. -capability to effectively analyze and teach the fundamental expertise and strategies of the sport. -capability to comply with all policies and regulations of the University, ASUN, and NCAA. -capability to efficiently operate a personal computer and connected software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and SungardHE Banner. -capability to communicate effectively and appropriately. -capability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. -capability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community and the public. -capability to detect and correct grammatical and spelling errors in written correspondence. -capability to maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs. -capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. -capability to effectively supervise personnel and complete all connected personnel actions in a timely and accurate manner. -capability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in a timely manner, particularly regarding athletic budget, eligibility, compliance and travel documentation. -capability to achieve certification to drive student-athletes to team athletic events. Physical Requirements: - Medium work- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: -Bachelor's degree. -Demonstrated prosperous practice in playing and/or coaching at the collegiate, university, or professional level. -A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically. -Valid driver license. -A background check will be required for the prosperous applicant. -An official transcript and names, addresses and phone numbers of three (3) references will be required for the prosperous applicant.
