Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill four part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and up to 40 hours during summer break) Summer Veterinary practice Chaperones for the Veterinary Medicine Department at Oregon State University (OSU).

The OSU Summer Veterinary practice is a hands-on and engaging practice for academically talented high school students interested in veterinary medicine. The Summer Veterinary practice will take place July 28 through August 2, 2024 . SVE participants stay on the Oregon State Corvallis campus for the duration of the program. The Summer Veterinary practice Chaperones will stay in the residence hall with the participants providing supervision as well as escorting them to meals and activities.

Position tasks
   » The chaperones will stay in the residence hall overnight providing supervision to participants
   » The chaperones will also escort the group to meals and activities
   » Chaperones will ensure that participants feel included and welcome during the practice

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

   » To qualify for this position, you must be a current OSU student and be able to pass a criminal history check, as will be interacting with minors

   » An interest in veterinary medicine and working with high school age students is preferred
