Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:

The Undergraduate Research Coordinator serves as a liaison among faculty, students, Lamar's research community and university leadership abilities in coordinating the execution of undergraduate research programs and providing assistance in the administration of the Office of Undergraduate Research as part of Lamar University's research mission. The Coordinator is expected to serve the entire university in promoting, facilitating, and supporting the business items of the Office of Undergraduate Research, and act as the front facing window of customer service to both internal and external constituencies. The position will work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Research and the university community in providing guidance and support for undergraduate students who are interested in performing research, assisting in administering multiple undergraduate research programs and hosting undergraduate research conferences. In addition, the ­Coordinator should demonstrate abilities in professional growth and acquiring expertises of externally funded undergraduate research programs (such as NSF's REU/RUI, Fulbright program and national honors programs), and interacting with national undergraduate research communities (such as Council of Undergraduate Research).

What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities
   » Provides guidance and information to the students who are seeking opportunities in performing undergraduate research at Lamar University.
   » Serves as a liaison among undergraduate research students, faculty mentors, and OUR administration.
   » Develops contents for use on the webpages of Undergraduate Research, and provides updates to OUR pages.
   » Creates newsletters and flyers for communicating Undergraduate Research events and accomplishments to the broader university community.
   » Assists in organizing and hosting of undergraduate research conferences at Lamar University.
   » Manages and archives electronic documentations, including operational budgets, personnel action forms, and travel requests and reimbursements, pertinent to the operations of Undergraduate Research.
   » Manages the calendar of events and operations of the Office of Undergraduate Research, including the Director of OUR.
   » Applies professional written and verbal communication skills and be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
   » Works closely with faculty and staff to accomplish undergraduate research objectives.
   » Provides administrative support, financial oversight and guidance related to undergraduate research as directed by OUR and ORSPA's leadership abilities.

Physical Requirements:

   » With or without accommodation. Will require an individual to execute on-campus duty for 40 hours per week. Will frequently be required to execute desk-located computer tasks, use office telephone, speak clearly have adequate listening comprehension.
